Family fun was definitely the name of the game at Anna & Washo’s pizza party/nuptials. These lovers own two bikes shops (AND two cute kiddos) so its no wonder bike tracks and skid entrances were scattered throughout. THE VENUE “We originally booked elsewhere in Stanley, however, we changed our minds to make the occasion more characteristic to us. Tamsin and Matt are dear friends and we felt so lucky that they opened up their biodynamic farm for us to take over and celebrate. The rolling hills and market garden are majestic and we couldn’t think of a more fitting place to get married than in front of the G&G veggie patch. The area is special to us as it is where we spent many hours riding back roads together, really getting to know each other early in our relationship.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “I loved the arbour Washo banged together before the wedding which was made from wood foraged on the property. I loved it so much because it was a representation of him to me. He is resourceful, creative and never lets me down.”

THE DRESS “I always had my heart set on my wedding dress being handmade from a vintage pattern, however, when I was looking for inspiration online, a friend directed me to Zimmermann. Here, I fell in love with the romantic style and high neckline. After a week of “umming” convincing myself that it was actually ok to buy your wedding dress online, I went with my gut and purchased it, tried it on and it fit perfectly. I felt so comfortable, feminine and whimsical. I then decided to put it away in the cupboard and left it as a surprise until the wedding day. A bit risky but it is the style of dress that will always fit any shape. Realistically it took me a couple of weeks to find the dress and it was all done from the comfort of my own home!”

FAVOURITE MOMENT “We are not dancers at all, however, we are very comfortable with bikes so instead of the bride and groom’s first dance, we did a first ‘dink’ that included a bike jump that lead us to the bottom of the hill on an out of control dodgy bike.”

TALK ABOUT TRADITION “A family tradition of ours is to receive a cake knife when married and it has all special milestone dates on it throughout my life. It was used to cut the wedding cake and then gifted to us.”

STANDOUT VENDORS “Most importantly Tamsin and Matt, we completely put them on the spot asking to have a wedding at their place and they were up for the challenge. From extra watering, planting, weeding, mowing to putting in new gate and fences and allowing us to build a bike track, they were so accommodating and we cannot thank them enough for their generosity. Rachel Emily, our photographer, was amazing in taking the documentary style photos completely incognito at our request. She was gentle and nurturing, and her contact leading up to the wedding and after the wedding was reassuring and made us feel really special. Selena from Flowers Naturally, a good friend, usually exclusively does funeral arrangements, however, couldn’t say no to our wedding. I gave her some very loose direction and ideas, nothing definitive and she was able to take that and create the most gorgeous arrangements, including Maeve’s flower necklace (which she wouldn’t wear haha). Farrah and Andrea of Pinchos of course! We had a pizza wedding and they took care of every single thing from getting the wood-fired pizza oven in, to our own special antipasto plate post-ceremony knowing that we’d be famished.”
