Matt took Angela by complete surprise when he proposed on her 30th birthday. After a night of pre-birthday celebrations with family and friends, Angela woke up to Matt insisting they go for breakfast. On their walk to the cafe, Matt suggested they go down the street he was living on when they first started going out.
“Hungover, hungry, and sans-coffee I declined. Matt persisted and as we walked past the place where we met for our first date (nearly 9 years earlier) he knelt and proposed! I cried and accepted! Then, in true Melbourne style, we celebrated over breakfast and coffee.”
Captured by Leo Farrell Photography, the couple chose Abbotsford Covent as their venue (with amazing catering by Bursaria) – the perfect pick since it allowed them to have the ceremony and reception both in one location.
“We loved that it’s so central, yet when you are there you feel completely removed from hustle and bustle of the city,” explains Angela, who adds that they drew on the beauty and community feel to create an atmosphere that was both special and friendly.
A Lover bride (who looked gorgeous, we might add), Angela tells us that her absolute favourite detail was the flowers, which doubled as a wedding favour for their guests.
“Emily from North St Botanical did an incredible job with all of our flowers- from my flower crown to the hanging installation at the reception. From our first meeting I had complete trust in her and she (and her team) were amazing.”
Having created an all-star team of vendors that also included caterer Bursaria and celebrant Koren Harvey, Angela and Matt were more than pleased with their selection.
“Spend time picking vendors you are really happy with! This was particularly important to Matt and I, as we were pretty wedding-clueless! We selected vendors we felt very comfortable with and confident in.. They all did an amazing job, and Matt and I could relax and enjoy the day.”
