If you’ve been looking for inspiration for a sparkly, colourful, bursting-with-fun day, this is it, friends. Ali and Dan’s wedding is the one you’ve been waiting for. For one thing, just check out those bloody incredible blooms by Pomp and Splendour. And how about that epic Vegas-vibes venue? Truly, we can’t get enough. “When we visited Vegas in 2019, Dan was on my case to head into one of the chapels and get hitched, so he finally got his wish,” laughs bride Ali.

This pair plan on doing it all again in 2023, btw, but on a bigger scale – and will be getting the fabulous Jessy from Brown Paper Parcel to photograph round two after she did such a bang-up job on their first nups. “It will be a lovely reunion in 2023 when we have our wedding round two with all the same providers.” Love this for them!

THE VENUE “We had planned a bigger wedding at Glasshaus, which we decided in July to postpone because so many family members couldn’t make it. We knew our celebrant, Anthony Cribbes, ran The Altar Electric – we had actually planned to head there the day before the wedding to take some fun pictures with our bridal party.  We decided we wanted to tie the knot this year regardless, and TAE was the only place we considered. Our friends love to dress up and so do we – with the velvet, animal print glory of The Altar Electric, it was an easy choice. It was perfect for an intimate ceremony and some drinks.”

LITTLE LOL “We had ordered a big Strawberry Watermelon Cake from Black Star Pastry (most Instagrammed cake in the world – it’s gorgeous!). In rescheduling our wedding from October to December, the cake was the one thing that fell through the cracks. I wasn’t mad when I got the email that morning in October that our 40-person cake was ready for collection!”

THE VIBE “Because we will still have the white wedding we originally planned in 2023, we decided we wanted this ceremony to be as far from traditional as possible. Enter the Vegas theme!”

FAVE DETAILS “We kept it low maintenance for this event – we really let the venue, our outfits and my bouquet from Pomp and Splendour do all the work!”

THE DRESS “Finding my dress was astoundingly easy! I added a ‘sequins’ filter on The Outnet and my gorgeous tiered REDValentino dress popped up. Major Mitchell cockatoos are one of Dan’s favourite birds (so cute) and he had seen the embroidered Reigner suit on Instagram – once we decided on the theme, he reached out and asked if it was for sale, easy as that!”

WORD OF ADVICE “Don’t feel pressure to have a big white wedding if that’s not your jam – a small, colourful ceremony can be just as magical.”

STANDOUT VENDORSAnthony Cribbes and The Altar Electric  were incredible – they run such a smooth operation and we didn’t have to worry about anything, it was all taken care of. Pomp and Splendour also knocked it out of the park.”

Pomp and Splendour are legit flower ninjas and are one of our fave recs here at Hello May – head on over to their directory listing to see what they can do to make your big day as amazing as Ali and Dan’s!
