For Adair and Andrew, marriage means choosing each other every day. Oh, and “barracking for each other’s footy team if they make the grand final.” The duo of eight years said ‘I do’ in Victoria’s breathtaking Mornington Peninsula – think gorgeous green pine trees, rolling hills and pretty pastels aplenty. We’re talking a real life fairytale, people!

Hello May friends Cloth and Confetti nailed the ‘spring romance’ brief, the audio guestbook by Off The Hook was a hit as per usual, and when it came to capturing the big day, bringing on Kyra Boyer was a no-brainer. “We were immediately drawn to Kyra’s photos, which capture colour and joy perfectly. Our final album was a dream.”

Ok, enough commentary; let’s get on with the revelry. Scroll on, folks!

MEMORABLE MOMENT “The ceremony was so special. I was really nervous, but when they opened those huge barn doors and I saw all our family and friends, it was seriously magic. Andrew was feeling pretty calm right up until the music for my entrance came on, and he realised he’d be seeing me soon. When I turned the corner at the aisle, it was incredible.”

LITTLE LOL “I am known for my very, very loud laugh. As my last bridesmaid, Gemma, was getting ready to walk down the aisle, she made a joke which made me laugh. We heard the crowd laugh from afar but didn’t realise why. That is until after the ceremony when many people came up saying how funny it was that in this emotionally charged moment where everyone was anticipating our entrances, they suddenly heard my booming laugh from within the venue. Before they saw me, they certainly heard me!”

DIY “My Dad owns a sewing machine shop with my two uncles that’s been in the family for two generations, and I grew up spending Saturday mornings in the shop. I wanted to create some unique aspects, and I had seen cloth signs before and thought maybe I could incorporate some embroidery. I enlisted the help of Carol, one of Dad’s employees, and we worked together to make it happen. For the welcome sign, I had Cloth and Confetti print the guest names and tables onto a cloth but leave room at the top for a custom embroidered header. I also included embellishments from my dress on this sign, too.”

REFERENCES “Over many years, if I saw wedding photos, videos, venues, flowers, etc that I liked the look of while scrolling Insta or on the Hello May blog, I would save them to a list on my phone. This definitely helped me not feel so overwhelmed getting started with enquiries and lock things in given we had a short-ish engagement (thank you past Adair haha).”

TALK ABOUT TRADITION “Adair’s mum, Adair’s uncle and all of our grandparents have passed. We wanted to find ways to include them on the day without making it too sad for Adair and me, as we had always imagined they’d be there in person. Megan, our celebrant, mentioned them in [our ceremony]. Megan knew Adair was worried about balling her eyes out at the first mention of her mum, so she sent us the draft [prior] so it wouldn’t be a shock to the system on the day. We also had a “loved one station” which included a sign Adair designed herself with their names and photos in frames. We know that a lot of our guests were missing these people too, so it was nice to have somewhere they could stop by and remember them.”

WE’RE GLAD WE… “ Got an audio guest book from Off The Hook – we knew we wouldn’t get around to everyone in the day, but we wanted to hear messages, words of advice and tipsy stories. Admittedly, most of the audio files were the latter, but it was funny listening to them..”

STANDOUT VENDOR “When we were looking for a photographer, we were immediately drawn to Kyra Boyer’s photos, which capture colour and joy perfectly.  From the first inquiry and beyond she was so responsive and helpful. No question was silly and she was so happy to help. She also gave some really great advice for other vendors too when we got decision fatigue. On the day she made us both feel so comfortable in front of the camera and it felt really natural and relaxed – no awkward poses in sight haha!”
