BEST SUNSHINE COAST PHOTOGRAPHERS

Cooper Brady
Candid, chic, and authentic, Cooper’s wedding albums are a beautiful marriage of editorial and documentary style. Talent aside, this Sunshine Coast local is a delight to be around, with many couples reflecting that, on the big day, Cooper felt like an old friend – one that happens to take great photos (including pics shot on film if you’re into that). Yes, good vibes are part and parcel of partnering up with Cooper, but, in this pro’s opinion, the best wedding photos happen when you forget the photographer is even there and simply enjoy the organic moments of your day. That’s what it’s all about! See some of Cooper’s handy work, including Libby and Ronan’s Noosa wedding.

Janneke Storm
Long-time HM readers will be very familiar with Janneke’s raw, refined signature aesthetic. Capturing romance for over a decade, this incredible wedding photographer has a knack for capturing authentic loved-up moments and the natural scenery surrounding. Janneke hails from South Africa and now calls the Sunny Coast home, but she can be frequently found photographing ‘I do’s all around the world. Newlyweds Molly and Jacob told us that they are in awe of how Janneke was able to capture their day so seamlessly (and wear so many hats!) “She was a crowd controller to coordinate large family shots, a project manager to ensure we stuck to schedule, a fashion stylist to have everyone looking their best and an absolute athlete (at one point, sprinting after a moving motorbike just to capture the shot).”
TOP SUNSHINE COAST CELEBRANTS

Dan Ford Celebrant
When this Sunshine Coast celebrant is not surfing, hiking, mountain bike riding or generally enjoying the spoils of South East QLD’s splendour, you’ll find him helping couples get hitched (and of course handling all that important post-ceremony paperwork). Dan’s been a celebrant (and MC too) for over seven years, so you know you’re in good hands. Servicing the Sunny Coast, the nearby hinterland, Brisbane and surrounds, Dan’s ceremonies are modern, fun, and romantic. He brings an engaging, entertaining (but not cheesy!) energy, weaving sweet and funny anecdotes about your love story throughout the formalities.

Danielle, who also offers MC services, brings an energetic flair paired with compassion and humour. Peli’s Noosa is a Mediterranean-inspired gem located right on Noosa Marina. As you would expect, this team is serious about amazing food and fresh ingredients, and they are big advocates for a communal, share-style feasting experience, explaining that it’s a natural conversation starter and allows guests to choose what their palette desires. For full-scale weddings, Peli’s can cater for up to 120 guests seated or for more intimate nuptials, they also have an exclusive private dining room. Testament to this venue’s reputation, Melbournians Lucy and Louis booked Peli’s without having seen it in person and said it was the best decision they could have made. “The whole team at Peli’s was incredible to work with. Everything was completely flawless. The venue itself is unlike anything else… and the food? Absolutely next-level.”

Rickys Riverbar + Restaurant
Elegant, chic, with romantic waterfront views, it goes without saying Rickys Noosa is easy on the eyes. You can book a lunch or dinner reception, or if you want full exclusive use of the space, they can sort that out too. Either way you know your menu will focus on seasonal, local produce. We’d be remiss not to draw your attention to one of the best features – a private jetty, allowing for a memorable grand entry/exit via gondola or boat. Rickys was a HIT with newlyweds Libby and Ronan (their loved ones too), “We had so many guests give the feedback that they’d never had such good food and such good service at a restaurant before, let alone at a wedding!”

TIPS FOR PLANNING YOUR SUNSHINE COAST WEDDING
What’s the best season to host a Sunshine Coast wedding?
The Sunshine Coast’s climate lends itself beautifully to the wedding scene’s most popular seasons, being autumn and spring. But don’t sleep on winter, friends. The perk of this region’s glorious balmy weather is that winter days are generally still warm enough to host your outdoor ceremony. Just keep in mind that evenings/nights will still get chilly and the days will be shorter (your photographer should be able to advise when to expect sunset and last light). As for summer, note that these months can get quite humid and also mark the region’s typical wet season. So while summer may not be everyone’s first pick for the wedding day, we reckon it’s a winning honeymoon option (you can find more of our fave honeymoon destinations here).
Do I need a wet weather plan to get married on the Sunshine Coast?
YES. Mind you, our answer would be the same no matter where you were planning to wed. A wet weather plan is always a good idea in our books. Chat to your venue about their wet weather options and, if you have one, it’s also worth asking your wedding planner for their advice on how to make a seamless plan B pivot indoors should you need to.
How to find the best Sunshine Coast wedding vendors
Need more help finding your people? Get inspired by real weddings in Sunshine Coast and surrounds (scroll to the bottom of each blog for a full list of each wedding’s team – you’re welcome). Once you’ve booked one vendor, ask them who they rate – the Sunshine Coast crew are full of local know-how and always keen to share their favourite collaborators.
