Whilst on location in Byron Bay shooting for Issue 14 we couldn’t help but take to the beach with Sydney photographer Matt Godkin to shoot a selection of some of our favourite gowns.
Windswept silhouettes and delicate laces cut a fine figure in this inspired editorial, showcasing the skills (just look at those gorgeous locks!) of local hair and makeup artist and all round nice human being Alexis Mahoney.
An ode to the bohemian, free-spirited bride, this stripped back shoot, featuring gowns by Spell & The Gypsy Collective, Thurley, Anais Anette via Love Marie, Houghton NYC via The Bridal Atelier, Fame & Partners and Rue De Seine with accessories from Hope & May and Fallen Broken Street, this shoot approaches the wedding world with a fresh, un-done feel.
Thanks to natural hair and makeup and bare feet, we are reminded to never take things too seriously, but rather enjoy the beautiful surroundings, the beach, the sand between our toes and most importantly, some darn good fashion.
If you are planning a wedding in the Byron Shire be sure to get in touch with Alexis Mahoney for hair and makeup and check out the HM directory for a list of local photographers, florists and venues we can never recommend highly enough.
