We think 60s rock group Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons said it best, “Oh, what a night. Late December back in ‘63. What a very special time for me. As I remember, what a night”. Well they almost said it best anyway. Swap out December and ‘63 for October and ‘79 and they’ve pretty much nailed it. Yep you got it, our annual Hello May Social was a retro prom theme and as the song says, oh, what a night!
We feel so lucky to have such amazingly talented vendors from Australia and New Zealand wide contribute to the digital and printed pages of Hello May– putting on this annual shindig is just our way of saying “Hey! We really like you. A lot” and “thanks a bunch for a year of great content”.
Year after year the HM Social sees the industry’s best travel to our office on Sydney’s Southern Beaches for an evening of good food, truly amazing music and fun times. From the caterer to the photographer, photobooth and entertainment we pretty much plan a wedding, so if it’s a top-notch vendor you’re after, read on…
First up has to be Jo and her team from Garnish Creative Catering, based in Berry. These guys proved yet again that they really do go above and beyond for their clients. Travelling to Sydney and putting together the most amazing feasting table would’ve been enough (The salmon! The ham!!) but the 70s themed food (aka: EVERYTHING served on toothpicks) was next level.
Then came Adam from The Vintage Stylus. Every single one of our 125 guests said it was the best vibe/ music/ entertainment they’d ever gotten down and dirty to on the dance floor and we couldn’t agree with them more! And Southern Sydney wedding photographer Kieran Moore nailed all of the dance floor shots and all the other warm feels and fun times.
Then there was My Little Peony, who provided the era-perfect vintage caravan and bar service and Sammy and Lola whose lights really brought the whole night together (along with our confetti cannon and smoke machine, of course). Props also to The Articulate who designed our invitation and The Distillery for printing it in all of its silver foil glory! But the evening would not have been complete without those rad Bangin Hangins silver and white streamer installations and Jai and Leelou from Heartbreak Photo Booth. They travelled from Melbourne and are just so much damn fun, we can never recommend them, or any of the highlighted vendors, highly enough for your wedding.
Big thanks to all of the vendors who travelled from far and wide and of course a shout-out to our Prom King (Dylan from Corinna and Dylan) and Queen (Madeline Kate Photography) who took the dress code to a whole new level. Let’s do it all again next year.
