It was the day before Meagan and Ryan’s wedding when an unexpected storm filled their teepee with hail. Piles of ice covered the lawn and if left to melt, it would have flooded the teepee and the reception would have to be moved somewhere else… But drastic times call for drastic measures, right??
“Two of my best friends and husband-to-be ran outside with shovels and buckets to scoop piles of ice out of the teepee to avoid it flooding. The temperature dropped and it was freezing. The holiday house on the property had a few skylights that began leaking and wet the pillows and rugs to be used for the wedding styling! Luckily it passed, dried up and all was fine in the end. We stayed positive and optimistic that it would all be fine, and it was.”
Despite the unfortunate weather, the couple wanted the wedding to be a reflection of them and the beautiful love they share. “We wanted it to have an earthy feel, natural, close with nature, ethereal, spiritual, relaxed and fun. I also have a deep love for rainbows so it had to be colourful,” says the bride who got her something borrowed (a gorgeous Rue De Seine veil) from her maid of honour.
To complete the look, Meagan opted for a lovely long-sleeved Grace Loves Lace number. “I tried on one I would never normally choose and absolutely fell in love with it! It was the first wedding dress shop I went to so I still visited another couple of shops but knew I had already found the one for me and nothing else compared to how I felt in the Inca!”
Though the pair tells us that “all the details were amazing” (especially their three-flavoured cake featuring rice krispies, ganache and pastel rainbow buttercream frosting), it was their amazing vendors who really stole the show – most notable being stylist/stationery designer/lolly buffet maker Chantel Covey-Lane, photographer Elin Bandmann Photography and cinematographer Something Visual.
“We were late in deciding to get a videographer and we are so glad we did! It is a precious thing to have to keep and means we can relive the day and see parts of the day that we missed. A truly wonderful and worthy investment.”
