A couple who does things their own way (on their own time), Lucy and Paul actually had two proposals (the first was a spontaneous one at a local bar, the second – a more formal affair with a ring) before tying the knot at Collingwood Children’s Farm in Melbourne with a reception to follow at The Farm Cafe.
“We wanted somewhere outdoors and relaxed. We initially thought of getting married in the countryside, but the great thing about the Children’s Farm is that it’s right in the city. We’d been there before and both loved the place,” explains Lucy, who recruited awesome vendors like Elsa Campbell Photography and Copper + Grey to help pull off their awesome day.
Clearly an easy-breezy bride, Lucy opted for not one – but two – off the rack gowns by Manning Cartell and Sass and Bide. “
“I really enjoyed the dress hunting experience, and didn’t put much pressure on myself to find anything in particular. I knew it would be off-the-rack and unlikely from a bridal boutique. The idea of spending thousands of dollars on a once-off wear just didn’t make sense to me,” says Lucy, adding that aside from marrying the best human she knows, the day was chock full of highlights.
To name a few…”watching friends, new and old, getting along as if they’d known each other for years. Espresso martinis. A playful photoshoot with Elsa. Making our mums happy.”
