The French, well, what can we say other than they know what they’re doing. Especially when it comes to throwing a dam good wedding. Both photographers, Louise and Guillaume were well aware however, that there was one thing their hometown couldn’t provide – photographer Madeline Druce. Hailing from Melbourne, Miss Druce has spent her life traveling the world with her camera, and Louise and Guillaume couldn’t think of anyone better to capture their day.
Married inside Ambillou Church, located 210 kilometres from Paris, Louise wore a beautiful, bohemian inspired lace gown made by Parisian designer Christina Sfez. “Guillaume has been friends with Christina (Sfez) for a long time and I know basically what I wanted and after looking around I knew I was going to get the dress made so after a few emails and drawings, I went to Paris for my first fitting with a ‘test’ dress and then went back a few months later for the second and last fitting! So it was pretty straight forward and Christina was amazing”, says Louise who took on a number of creative projects herself, including their invitations, decorations, favours and signage.
“At one point I thought that I had taken on way too much”, says Louise, adding how her husband forgot to pickup her bridesmaids on the way to the church. His attention it seemed, was occupied with other things – like playing lawn games outside their magnificent, French provincial style venue, eating cake made by Love My Cakes by Sam Lester and offering advice about marriage, “It’s finding the right person to get bored with” he says. Wise words Mr. G, we’ll take that on board.
