This is hands down one of the best proposal stories we’ve heard for a while. Laura tells us, “Dressed in our matching flannie pj’s (which featured grizzly bears, deers and other American animals on them) having returned from a meal of chicken wings and chilli margaritas, Daniel proposed. It was amazing and hilarious and I couldn’t have imagined it any other way.”
Captured by Hello May fave Scott Surplice (who you can find more about on our directory here) Laura and Daniel’s day was far more elegant than their intimate engagement. Inspired by the idea of having a romantic, winter wedding Laura and Daniel decided to marry at Bendooley Estate on New South Wales’s south coast. With water views and a warm inside space, it was the perfect pad for this pair of pyjama lovers to create an art deco inspired day.
To match their sophisticated decor and flowers by Affair with George Laura approached designer Johanna Johnson to create her dream dress. “My dress was love at first sight! The style was very me, quite covered up… but a party in the back… it’s backless. I purchased it from Johanna Johnson and the experience I had there with all of the girls and Johanna herself was amazing. It’s everything you want it to be gorgeous clothes, champagne and wedding chat.” For practical purposes she completed her looked with a blush coloured ostrich feather ballero from The Babushka Ballerina, one of our favourite Sydney stores.
