You may recognise this venue from our Country Strong editorial featured in issue six, which doubled as the ideal spot for Kristy and Andy’s day of good times. They both wanted a relaxed, country style wedding that most importantly was B.Y.O (Andy’s work has plenty to do with beer) and Collingwood Children’s Farm, conveniently located in the heart of Melbourne, ticked all their boxes.
They also reached out to photographer Ashley Oostdyck of Stories by Ash who, true to form, captured the entirety of their day in an honest and candid way. “My favourite moment would have been feeding my bouquet to the goats. We were having photos taken in the barn and then decided to go over to the goats. The flowers were starting to wilt because of the heat anyway and we thought it would be fun to give them to the goats”, says Kristy who wasn’t quite as willing to share her ice cream.
“I loved the ice cream cart (Bianco Latte) it was so delicious and everyone loved it in the heat. I also loved that so many of the guests were in shorts and playsuits. We made the dress code ‘a day at the polo’ and encouraged guests to be comfy and still stylish.” To fit their theme, Kristy wore a custom gown by Kitsch Bitsch that was elegant yet understated. “It suited the theme and the venue and I was very comfortable in it all night.”
As an event manager it was a night that was everything she’d imagined and then planned for – a canopy of glittering lights, with live music and her favourite people all in the same space.
