You can never have too many flowers and with that in mind, Jillian and Jamie planned a wedding that was literally full of? (we’ll give you a clue, ladies love them!) Held at Verandahs in the Byron Bay hinterland, Jillian tells us, £I wanted a garden wonderland with spring flowers everywhere you looked, and thankfully I had an amazing florist who helped us create our vision. The floral chandeliers are definitely my favourite detail from the day – they were beautiful and really gave the marquee a visual impact.—

As kind to the eyes as they were, it was Jillian who stole the show in her sparkly Rachel Gilbert gown and Twigs & Honey veil. £I really wanted a long sleeved dress, however I couldn’t find what I was looking for in Brisbane, so I took two of my bridesmaids to Sydney for a shopping weekend. We had appointments booked all weekend, but our first stop was Rachel Gilbert and I saw THE dress as soon as I walked in the store? as soon as it was on I knew it was perfect. We then cancelled all the other appointments and went to the beach!—

Meanwhile, Jamie was back home earning his keep. £Jamie made all the signs, blackboards, easels, signposts and other woodcraft knick-knacks—, says Jillian who while working on her tan, found time to organise other important things like their floral inspired stationery, three tier cake (made by a talented family friend) and extraordinary photographer Paul Bamford of Finch & Oak, who put his life on the line to get the perfect shot.

£We had really wanted photographs on a road we’d found near the venue, covered by an archway of overhanging trees. The scenery was stunning and the lighting was perfect, though we hadn’t really thought through the practicalities of standing still for long periods on a road—, explains Jillian.

Their mission accomplished, they made their way to the reception where Paul also helped orchestrate what would later become both Jillian and Jamie’s most memorable part of the night.

£Our favourite moment was sneaking away from the reception for a few nighttime photos under the stars. We were grateful to have this small moment for just the two of us, and it was a great chance to watch everyone enjoying the event we had created.— An event that, as Jillian reminds us, was not just about flowers but good food and friends, and family too. £And getting to grow old with my best friend.—
