On a weekend trip down the coast, Jess was busy taking sunset snaps (for Instagram of course) whilst Nick took care of the champagne. Admiring the beautiful backdrop, Nick took the photographic reins to capture his gorgeous gal, “knowing that I would immediately ask show me’ to check how I looked,” Jess laughed. When she took the phone off him, what she saw instead was a picture of a rather stunning ring – and next thing you know, she was staring at the real thing.
“Nick had convinced me that he didn’t want to get married, so when he proposed I have never been more shocked!”
The pair didn’t muck around when it came to deciding on a venue, Jess adding they’d envisioned a poolside reception. When the duo set eyes on Wallalong House in the Hunter Valley, they knew it was perfect. “We spent over two hours wandering around the incredible property and didn’t want to leave!”
Jess mentioned she’d fallen in love with the Alexandra dress from the gorgeous Grace Loves Lace well before Nick proposed. Upon heading up to their show room on the Gold Coast with her mum and bridesmaids, she was suddenly apprehensive about the dress she’d loved for so long. “I was so nervous that I wouldn’t like it on or that it wouldn’t suit me and I’d be heartbroken!” Fortunately, she rocked the frock and purchased the gown that day.
There to capture the day was Joel of Barefoot and Bearded, and boy did he do a damn fine job. Jess mentioned the touching moment as she was getting portrait shots waiting, the weather gave way to rain. “My beautiful photographer Joel took one look at me (apparently I don’t have a great poker face) and realised I was starting to freak out. He grabbed his phone and said £let’s just listen to this song, and as soon as ‘Have You Ever Seen The Rain?’ cranked from the speaker, we all just burst into laughter and happy tears. It was such a special moment as it brought me back to earth and made me so excited to walk down the aisle and laugh with Nick about how it was raining on our wedding day!”
