For Hannah and Jeremy, one of our lovely couples from Issue 4, the idea of spending the better part of a year or more focusing on just one day seemed like a mild form of insanity – and a hell of a lot of pressure. So they came up with a solution. £We spread the festivities over three days as we wanted to have more time to spend with people and not have the pressure of just one day,— said Hannah.

Incorporating the skills of their huge crew of creative friends went a long way in pulling together their event. Hannah worked with her friend and designer Jean Bas to create her long-sleeved lace dress; £We did a little trip to choose the lace together. I hand-beaded the bottom of the dress and Jean crafted the masterpiece by hand in her studio.—

One of their biggest heroes on the day was James Bennett, who was invited to join Hannah and Jeremy’s entourage of clever creatives as their chief photographer. A kind, easy going and uber talented human, he made making friends and taking epic photos look like a walk in the park.

Married on Hannah’s family property, which her parents and sister put many hours into fixing up. £They did an amazing job,— said Hannah. £We had a marquee in the garden, with apple boxes on the lawn and the large outdoor fire hearth.—

Meanwhile, two of their friends, one a very talented sculptor, created the amazing branch moon arch’ and ceremonial site for Hannah and Jeremy to say their vows. £Being married in a ceremonial site built out of the forest and lovingly created by our friends was an incredible experience. These guys also built us a tipi for our wedding night which was just amazing. It was decorated inside with lanterns, fabric, flowers and a big colourful bed with blankets and pillows and a giant dream catcher which they made as our wedding present. Words cannot do this justice, it makes me cry just thinking about it.—

Yet another talented friend catered the event! £The wedding day was completely vegetarian, there was not one complaint from a meat eater as the food was divine.” And the list of helpful loved ones doesn’t end there! The couple’s family and friends also helped with music, hair and makeup, stationery, flowers, lighting and bunting and as celebrant. £We didn’t want a person we didn’t know to marry us so we asked Jean who’s known us our entire relationship. We viewed our wedding as a private ceremony and the legal part was separate for us. Jean had us laughing and crying, we wrote our own vows and the ceremony was contributed to with words from my grandmother and our friends. It was so special, untraditional, spontaneous and perfect.—
