After eight years of establishing their pretty great life together (along with their cat), marriage for Emma and Daniel felt like a natural way to say to each other that they wanted to “keeping being awesome together, forever!”

Having known early on that they didn’t want a traditional £chicken-and-beef— wedding, this funky pair wanted a day that was super fun and generally reflected them and the things they love. “We like all things industrial and a bit of vintage but we weren’t working to a particular theme but instead just picked what we liked so we did end up with something very unique – a bit random, eclectic, with a bit of vintage, dinosaurs, glitter and Batman: very us’!”

Held at Melbourne’s 1000 Pounds Bend, the bride took on a boatload of DIY projects including spray painting gold dinosaurs and creating she seating chart… Emma even learned calligraphy which is pretty darn cool if you ask us.

Captured by Free the Bird Photography, the decor wasn’t the only thing that caught our eye. Emma wore not one – but two – totally gorgeous gowns. Having originally pictured herself as a very “rock-and-roll bride in a short dress”, she first picked up a little sparkly number from Alannah Hill, but later picked up a long-sleeved, open back Badgley Mischka from Shopbop so she could walk down the aisle in a white dress.

While Emma and Daniel tell us the day went smoothly (despite some technical difficulties with pinning the button-hole flowers), these newlyweds were quite pleased with the way their celebration turned out – and so were their guests. Emma says, “my dad broke out the party Mambo shirt after speeches as well as some epic dance moves which earned him a lot of respect from our friends.”
