Ever since she was a kid, Emelie had imagined that her wedding day would play out just like it had in one of her favourite movies. “At the end of the movie the couple is getting married, bare foot and with flower crowns in their hair, at a meadow in early summer when all the apple trees are blooming”, she explains. “Their friends are playing violin and singing, elves are dancing in the misty morning.”
With that in mind she set about finding a private property (Vû?sterby Home Farm in Stockholm, Sweden) where Gustav’s jazz band could play as loudly as they liked (he was once a jazz drummer) and where she could include an endless amount of DIY decorations.
From their invitations, to their wine bottle labels, their concert stage and even Emelie’s dress – everything about this couple’s day was done in house. They even sourced all the food locally and had their favourite chef come and cook it for them as they danced until the sun came up (literally). Scroll to the bottom of the post to see the gorgeous photos (by photographer Justin Aaron, who Emelie had met when she was studying architecture on an exchange at Newcastle University in 2008) as night rolls back into day and the party kicks on.
Emelie tells us this was her favourite moment, explaining “Driving home from the wedding, at 6 am, the sun was up again, the fields were glowing gold, and we stopped at a misty meadow and the view was stunning. I think those pictures show the magical feel we had just then, with all the love and good memories from the day we just ended, and with all the excitement for the future just starting.”
