Ahhhh…where to even start with this wedding? Not only is it reminiscent of a carnival (Complete with goats, mind you!!) and held in a local community hall, it perfectly reflects the outrageously fun couple, Donna and Christian, and proves that you don’t need to break the budget ( or rob a bank) to throw one hell of an awesome party!
This wedding is so full of colour, it just makes us feel happy! From the pops of red in the bride and grooms outfits, to the balloons that decorated the aisle and the love booth at the reception, this pair nailed the perfect, DIY celebration.
Blushing bride Donna tells us, “The theme just evolved naturally.. We had a tiny budget, so we decided what we wanted to spend bigger on (which was photography) and then for the rest, we browsed heaps of online sellers and op shops to find awesome things, while not breaking the bank. We started off thinking we wanted to make our day a big party, where everyone could have fun, then it followed a bit of a carnival theme… and then we added goats (as it has been a long standing dream of mine to have goats at my wedding!!!) and in the end, I would say that our wedding was very much like a day at the Royal Melbourne Show. Which is awesome, because we love Melbourne, we love the show, and we love having fun.”
Donna undertook a list of DIY projects Martha Stewart would be proud of! It would take us the better part of a week to walk you through them all, but just to give you an idea the couple made the confetti, table runners, stationary, photo booth, the wooden goats, bunting, table centrepieces, guest book AND cake topper – and that isn’t even the half of it! So kudos to you guys, what an amazing effort and celebration you pulled off.
Donna and Christian’s quirky day was expertly captured by one of our fave Melbourne photographers, the ever so talented Eric Ronald! Eric just so happens to be a member of the Hello May directory and is the talented chap behind the cover of new coffee table book JUST MARRIED. Hello May has three copies of this aforementioned book to give away in issue three of Hello May magazine, available for purchase online here.
