Kylie & Eric have been together for a wonderful 17 years. Yep, ever since their final year of high school. When it came to their long-awaited big day, they pulled out all the stops, opting to host their nuptials at one of our all-time favourite Melbourne venues, The Wool Mill (planned and styled by Nudo). But that’s not all, folks. Kylie also donned a cutout Prea James Bridal gown (from our mates at Hope X Page), nabbed Nick Skinner Photography and feasted upon a Torte by Mirjana cake. Moral of the story? Listen up, because these two know what’s up! Scroll down for more…
THE VENUE “We now live in Sydney, having moved for work a few years back, but both of us wanted our wedding to be celebrated in Melbourne where we both grew up, met and have a host of family and friends. The idea was to find a large open space with an industrial/warehouse feel that inner-city Melbourne is renowned for and we stumbled across The Wool Mill. As soon as we saw the space at The Wool Mill we immediately knew it was the one, not only in the aesthetic but also the functional practicality of the separate spaces which can be used for the ceremony as well as the reception. We saw some venues beforehand which we weren’t totally convinced and inspected some others after but couldn’t stop thinking about The Wool Mill and kept going back to it as our benchmark.”
THE DRESS “I ended up at a Pre James trunk show at the Hope x Page boutique in Sydney after seeing the Cara gown online. I was immediately hooked, I knew this gown was essentially me, my style. I went alone on the day and tried on a few different options Alex, the shop owner, had chosen for me. Once it was time to try on the Cara gown I was reduced to tears, all the emotions took over and I knew this was the one. I absolutely love this dress and it felt so luxurious to wear all day. Alex and the team at Hope x Page were amazing.”
LITTLE LOL “On our first meeting with Kim from Anatomy of Flowers, Eric took over and hijacked the conversation much to my amusement (and perhaps slight shock). He had taken screenshots/created mood boards to convey his vision and he later explained that he had an epiphany and was inspired after we watched the Raf Simons, Dior and I documentary sometime earlier. I was happy for him to take the creative lead in this but both Kim and I had to temper his expectations and tell him how much fresh flowers cost!”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “We were unsure about whether to do first look photos in the name of efficiency and to save time. In the end, we didn’t follow tradition here as Eric and I were already spending the night before together and went for coffee and a run in the early morning before we got ready. It is a whirlwind of a day and a fantastic celebration with family and friends but ultimately it’s the simple things and the time that you spend together that are most important and what matters. Being able to see each other at first look photos ended up being a really special and private moment which the two of us were able to share together and it really helped us relax and calm our nerves for the ceremony.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Nudo were outstanding and we can’t speak more highly of this talented team and their recommended vendors. Planning a wedding from afar (luckily only interstate and not overseas) is never ideal but the Nudo team were always there for us and they struck the perfect balance of giving us space and pushing us to make decisions when needed. Wedding planning is this strange process where you don’t know what you are in for, as more often it is your first (and hopefully only) time doing it so it is not something that couples come into with experience, and learn by trial and error. We were at ease with Nudo from the beginning and they guided us through every step of the way.”
