After eight glorious years together, doctor duo Laura & Bill decided to knock together one humungous mega celebration to share the love with their nearest and dearest. Whilst marriage for Laura meant “finally accepting Bills monobrow”, Bill, in turn, accepted his new bride’s eternal messiness. Laura even scored a Grew & Co engagement ring out of it (and a Prea James Bridal gown!). You are going to want to scroll down for the rest of this beaut day, with pics by Charmaine Visuals

THE VENUE “We loved the idea of being surrounded by flowers and gardens. In fact, we initially booked the Conservatory in the Fitzroy Gardens where we would have a roof over our heads protecting us from the weather. Unfortunately, that same roof shattered and the conservatory closed for emergency renovations just a couple of months out from the big day. We then found a great spot in the gardens, under a beautiful big fig tree. In the end, it was the perfect location and the change of plans was a blessing in disguise.”

FAVOURITE DETAILS “The flowers. We love everything Hattie Molloy does and we gave her complete creative control. It meant that everything was a complete surprise on the day and it blew us away. They were truly the most incredible flowers we have ever seen.”

THE DRESS “I tried dresses from several designers and then went to meet Prea James when she came down to Melbourne for a trunk show. She was so sweet and her Paradis gown felt so special but still very ‘me’. I stopped looking immediately after that.”

REFERENCESHello May of course! And I found myself down lots of deep rabbit holes on Instagram. It was such a delight to pick vendors that we loved and that represented us and our tastes.”

LITTLE LOLDee, our celebrant, got us to spill the dirt on all of the people in our bridal party and our families. She then surprised everyone at the ceremony by roasting them all by way of introduction. The crowd loved it, especially when she got to the grannies.”

A WORD OF ADVICE “Book an Andrew McConnell venue (food/wine/staff/tables/table settings are all taken care of and everything was faultless). Think carefully about an art gallery though… there were some nervous moments where we thought we would have to forgo the honeymoon and buy a piece damaged by an out of control dance moves!”
