Originally envisioning an outdoor wedding, creatives Alichia and Wallace stumbled across their wedding venue, The Pill Factory, whilst searching for accommodation. Much like their story, it was love at first sight. The attic space became the couple’s vintage-inspired ceremony space. Like a scene out of Moonrise Kingdom, their day was wreathed in autumnal tones and bedecked in sweet DIY details. There were smatterings of vintage florals, courtesy of HM fav Pia + Jade, video footage captured by the lovely Bree of Light Noise Films and snaps by the couple’s bestie Jess of Brown Paper Parcel. THE VIBE “We didn’t have a set theme in mind, we just knew we wanted an intimate ‘gathering’ rather than a formal wedding. We only wanted our nearest and dearest there, a super chill vibe and all of us just hanging out together. This was made so much easier by having four days together with everyone. We loved that people just slowly filtered in over the days leading up to the wedding and could hang out in various parts of the old building, whether in the bar playing pool, on a comfy couch near a fireplace, or outside near the fire pit roasting marshmallows. We did all the styling and decorations ourselves except for the flowers and it was great having family and friends helping to bring our vision to life. It definitely helped to calm the nerves and it was lovely settling in with everyone instead of just rushing through one day.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “In terms of details, the flowers were just beyond anything I could have ever imagined. They were so incredibly beautiful and Danny and her team did such an amazing job bringing our brief to life.”
DIY “I stupidly decided one week before the wedding that we needed a piñata so decided to spend quite a few hours making a custom one, as we couldn’t find any that suited our style. I also spent a ridiculous amount of time making a 22m custom fabric decoration that we stung across the ceiling for our ceremony. Together, Wallace and I did all the signwriting for our custom signage.”
REFERENCES “Honestly the Hello May directory was our go-to! We didn’t have a lot of vendors but most of them we found through the directory. It made everything so easy! We were very lucky to have our close friend Jess (from Brown Paper Parcel) agree to be our guest/photographer which she absolutely rocked! She also recommended Bree from Light Noise Films who was an absolute legend too. We felt truly blessed to have had all the incredible vendors we had, they made the whole experience so wonderful and delivered in spades!”
FAVOURITE MOMENT “The whole weekend was incredible, especially being able to spend some quality time with our closest friends and family. I loved feeling so relaxed and actually being able to enjoy the little moments and whole experience. One of my favourite moments was having Jess burst into our room on the morning of our wedding, still in her pyjamas, with camera in hand, jumping onto our bed and shooting us laughing and lying in each other’s arms. It was such a great moment!”
WE’RE GLAD WE “As both of us are quite naturally shy, it was great to be surrounded by only our nearest and dearest. We felt completely comfortable and could enjoy ourselves fully. I’m also really happy that we made sure we didn’t listen to convention and just did what we wanted to, to make it truly our day.”
