For Ellie, few things in life trump Nathan’s sunset and pizza proposal but we have it on pretty good authority that her Audley Dance Hall wedding was a mighty close contender. The lads were looking dapper and the ladies rather lush, as the duo tied the knot amidst the soft sage of the Royal National Park. Ellie and her maids were all decked out in custom Amy New Bridal whilst Larsen Jewellery sorted rings. Perhaps our favourite detail of all, however, was the hand-stamped confetti that Ellie’s very own Year Two class created. Cute, huh?! Just wait until you get a load of the flower girls! Scroll down for piccies galore, all snapped by the lovely Kristen of The Paper Fox…
THE VENUE “We looked at some great venues down south but were worried we would lose the intimacy that a smaller space provides. We were familiar with Audley Dance Hall and had spent time in the National Park there, and it is close to our respective family homes. Having a wedding close to your family home means you get bridal shots with your dog, so that was a bonus. We also liked that having our reception in the Dance Hall, it meant people were in a close-knit space so they were essentially forced to talk to each other!”
THE DRESS “I spent a while looking online at different bridal stores but couldn’t find a style I liked. I had a rough idea of what I wanted but couldn’t seem to find it. I asked Kristen (our photographer friend) if she knew anyone and she recommended Amy New Bridal. I arrived at my first bridal fitting to just try on different styles and immediately felt comfortable with Amy. It turns out my Grandmother was her kindergarten teacher! Amy and I designed every part of the dress, from the different lace on the skirt to the off the shoulder styled sleeves. This dress literally appeared from Amy’s wonderfully talented mind. I actually really enjoyed my dress fittings purely to chat to Amy! She was so determined to design something I really wanted and she did that with a whole lot of talent, skills and patience. I could not recommend her more.”
FAVOURITE MOMENTS “Nathan’s youngest niece had just learnt to walk about a month before, so to have both nieces walk down the aisle as our flower girls melted our hearts.”
LITTLE LOL “Nathan had a word stuff up during the vows. Instead of saying ‘with this ring’ he got a bit tongue-tied and said ‘with this wing’ which made me laugh hysterically. It eased the very formal part of our day and made it lighter. One of my favourite photos from the ceremony is the moment our family and friends heard it, their smiles and laughter say it all.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “If you’re doing an outdoor wedding make sure you have a plan B that you’re happy with or you’ll be super stressed weather watching the week before.”
WE’RE GLAD WE “Forked out for seats for everyone for the ceremony. It made everyone feel included.”
