These two cool cats have been together for 10 years, have a two-year-old son and a three-year-old Spoodle. “We met in the lovely town of Yamba at the very reputable establishment, the Pacific Hotel.” We like them already! Then add the stylish Georgia Young jumpsuit from Sphere Collective and a very talented Aaron Shum Photography and you have a good wedding on your hands. Scroll down for all the details, and some very practical advice…
THE VENUE “We had toyed with the idea of eloping, of having a registry wedding and an Elvis Vegas wedding but in the end Yamba just made the most sense. It was where we met, where we got engaged, and where a lot of family lived. When we checked out The Yamba Holiday Retreat Riverside Ranch, we knew it was perfect. Set on the river with lots of natural beauty and with a great American style that accommodated lots of people.”
FAVOURITE DETAILS “We loved the natural arbour and the feasting style dinner was a highlight. Everyone commented on the food and it was nice to have a try of everything. We also had a late night supper which was a big ol’ leg of ham with pickles and crusty bread which went down a treat and hopefully helped soak up a bit of the booze before people headed home. The tipi tents were awesome, added a great and grand festive feel and the fires created a cosy and intimate atmosphere. It also bucketed down with rain at 10pm so they proved to be very functional as well!”
THE DRESS “Oh the dress that is not a dress! I had my heart set on a jumpsuit and thought it would be so easy to find given it is a bit trendy right now. Well, it was not easy and given my tight timeframe (we got engaged in the Jan and married in the June) it made things a lot harder. At eight weeks out, I was thinking I might have to give up on the idea, but I stumbled upon Georgia Young’s website, saw the jumpsuit and it was love. Luckily, Sphere Collective had a trunk show that included the jumpsuit, so I scooted off there and was sold. The timing was a bit tight but Georgia was magic and the jumpsuit got to me two weeks before the event.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “If resources allow, invest in a wedding planner. They make life so much easier, especially on the day.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “Andrew Michael, the celebrant, brought so much joy and energy to the day. The Yamba Holiday Retreat Riverside Ranch was such a quirky venue and so accommodating. Aaron Shum Photography nailed it from behind the lens (especially given he had to work with both children and animals) and the team at Eat Drink Catering provided an epic feast. Sarah from Ivy Lane & Co. was an out-of-this-world wedding planner– she worked so hard and never stopped. Nothing was too much trouble, everything was possible and beautiful.”
