Em and Dyl are the kind of people we want to party with, after all, Dyl surprised Em by rocking up at her hens night AS THE STRIPPER! “He admitted to watching Magic Mike highlights to gain inspiration for his performance.” Not to be outdone by the groom (we’re still waiting on video footage, guys), the couple put on a spectacular show for their nearest and dearest amongst the 100 year old Camphor Laurel Trees lining the property of Casa Ciani. Read all about it below, while you get lost in the glorious photos lensed by Joey Willis.
THE PROPOSAL Ha! His proposal always makes me laugh. It was Dyl’s 30th birthday- the theme was ‘bad taste’. I’m pretty sure I was in fluoro blue tights with a purple leotard over the top and crimped high pony. Dyl was in red towelling baggy shorts with a black and red flame button up shirt. During his speech he started rambling on about all his cars he had gone through, all the different jobs he’d had. All the time fidgeting with his pocket. Before I knew it he was looking me in the eye telling me how grateful he was that I had been the one consistent thing in his life. Next minute, he’s down on one knee with my mothers antique engagement ring in his hand.
THE VENUE The venue is one of my favourite parts of our wedding. We didn’t have to look far, Casa Ciani is my cousins farm out in Crabbes Creek, Northern NSW. I’d spent a lot of time there with my cousins, aunts and uncles, so it felt like the perfect place to celebrate our love fest. I fell in love with the idea of getting married down the driveway- it’s lined with these 100 year old Camphor Laurel trees that lead all the way down to the farm house.
FAVOURITE DETAIL My favourite detail from the day would be the low conversation table. Everyone sat on mismatched rugs and scattered cushions. The long table was draped in linen, topped with a collection of mixed metal vases, tall candles, pink flowers and cut glass crystal tumblers filled with rose.
DIY A lot of our wedding was DIY, my favourite would have to be making our own bouquets. The night before, my bridesmaids and I sat with a bottle of champagne and chatted while we got creative. It was a really nice moment that I’ll always cherish.
THE DRESS It was a one stop shop for me when it came to finding my wedding dress. My bridesmaids and I headed straight to Made With Love Bridal, where I tried five, or more dresses on. As soon as I tried on ‘Stevie’ I fell in love! The nude underlay with the ivory lace, I knew it would be the perfect contrast against the beautiful farmland. The dress was so comfy and light, I could totally imagine myself boogieing away all night in it!
REFERENCES When it came to finding vendors, my go to was Hello May, Coco & Confetti, perusing Instagram and recommendations from friends.
STANDOUT VENDORS Our photographer Joey Willis is insanely talented, I fell in love with his style and storytelling through photos years ago. We wanted candid pictures and he certainly captured every loved-up moment. The girls from Lani and Lola who did our caravan bar were so accommodating, fun and friendly and made all our family and friends feel relaxed and comfortable. Zoe & Ian from Crabbes Creek Catering went above and beyond. They worked with us to pick and design the menu (sourced from local produce) and worked within our budget. Food was a major focus for our wedding- we wanted fresh, delicious, filling food- and they nailed it!
