With enough happy tears to sink a small ship, Stacey and Simon’s day was clearly a very emotional one. Luckily they’d planned ahead and had plenty of £handkerchiefs for happy tears as well as Emma of Milla Makeup on standby.
In fact this forward thinking pair had an idea for everything – including a flower crown for their cat. £There’s only one thing in this world I love more than her, and that’s my husband! says Stacey, who couldn’t wait to become Simon’s lady friend for life.
Choosing to invite only a handful of guests, Stacey and Simon’s intimate ceremony was inspired by every colour of the rainbow. £I wanted all the colours because I feel like colourful things are happy and I was so happy to get to finally marry my best friend.
Having heard Stacey’s brief, Fox and Rabbit set the tone of their celebratory day with bright bouquets and streamers while Stacey added her own burst of cheerful colours with pom pom confetti. Sadly however, Mother Nature wasn’t in the same good mood and seconds after Stacey and Simon made it to the end of the aisle, the weather took a nasty turn.
£All of a sudden it started to freaking hail like CRAZY, says Lauren, one of Stacey’s bridesmaids and photographer Glenn of Still Love’s better half. £It was so so loud! I guess a lot of couples would freak out about this, but it was actually the most exciting and surreal experience for all of us. Simon shouted, ‘The God’s smile upon us today!’ like we were in some kind of Thor movie and I have to admit, it was kinda wondrous.
Fortunately the weather subsided just long enough for Stacey and Simon to make it unharmed to their reception at The Urban Coe-Op where 80 additional guests and a bathtub full of booze were waiting to greet them. £Walking into the venue and seeing all of our family and friends for the first time as husband and wife was a pretty special moment, says Stacey who looked stunning in her custom dress.
£I knew I didn’t want to shop in a traditional bridal store – I just wanted a pretty dress that made me feel beautiful and comfortable enough to dance up a storm. I gave Erin and Kate from On A Whim some pictures for inspiration and they just nailed the brief, says Stacey who looking back on their day of good times, wouldn’t change a single thing – not even the weather. £They say rain is good luck on your wedding day, so I wonder what’s in store for us!
Stacey and Simon’s wedding first featured inside our annual Real Wedding Special, which sadly is now sold out. The good news though is that issue nine is now available online via Mag Nation and at selected newsagents nationally. You can also check out more of Still Love’s work here, here and here!
