Nicola and Bjarne recently tied the knot in stunning New Zealand and wedding photographer Jenny Siaosi was there to capture all of the action. The ceremony itself took place at Milk Station in Otaki, New Zealand – a quaint country venue that was given a full-body makeover. “The theme for our wedding was a 1950s retro theme, inspired by my late grandmother”, says Nicola who had purchased a 1950s tea length wedding gown from London before finding out she was pregnant! At 29 weeks, she was in need of a Plan B and fortunately found a dress online via New York Dress a week out from the wedding.
In terms of DIY Nicola and her Mum made the favours, which was inspired by the Vue De Monde restaurant Bjarne, had intended to propose at. “The favour – a personalised small brown paper bag with luggage label For The Morning After’ and inside each had a bag of home made muesli, a Pukka ‘Love’ flavoured herbal tea bag and three mini Easter eggs given the morning after was Easter Sunday after all”, says Nicola whose advice to couples now is quite simple:
“The wedding day goes so quickly so enjoy the lead up and planning because that is a huge part of the experience. On the day, don’t sweat the small stuff, because the tiny things that don’t go to plan, nobody else knows so it is not worth worrying about.”
