Like most weddings, Georgie and Ben’s day had its fair share of memorable stories: not deciding on a first dance song until the morning of, finding out the venue’s address was spelt wrong on the invites a day too late and running out of time to prepare speeches…yikes! £We both had to wing it on the day because we ran out of time. It wasn’t too bad but you always forget to tell the funniest stories, who to thank properly and to watch your language (Ben!).
Having agreed on a relaxed wedding at Abbotsford Convent with lots of laughs, a live band (AKA Lark Music)and plenty of drinks and delicious food, the pair admits it’s easy to over-style and get fixated on the small details. £We both just wanted to make sure everyone had a great time so we tried to focus on that. I wanted heaps of flowers and foliage with a simple, natural theme. Ben was great at agreeing to pretty much all of my styling ideas except for his beard and hairstyling.
While Georgie and Ben liked the £idea of DIY, these two steered clear of the scissors and hot glue gun. £We don’t really have the patience for it. I had planned to DIY the name places and seating chart but a week from the D day I decided to have them all printed at Snap Printing and I’m so pleased we did. They worked out much better than I could have made, jokes the bride, who found her dream wedding gown at The Bridal Atelier in Armadale.
£I tried on about five different dresses that were all completely different styles. My very honest sisters Madeline and Rosalind were there and we all loved the same one. After the blessing from Mum, I ordered it and it was perfect on the day. It’s now hanging up on display in our bedroom with Mum’s vintage white fur coat, which I think is a great way to continue enjoying it after the big day is over, Georgie tells us, adding that marriage is all about £hanging out with your best mate for the rest of your days…and, of course, enjoying your awesome wedding photos forever and always!
£Our photographer Madeline Druce was fantastic, she made it a relaxing and effortless experience. It’s not every day you have your own private photoshoot, it can be very awkward at times! She also managed to keep us on schedule, which was a job in itself. Total. Legend.
