For Carly and Paul, choosing their ceremony and reception venues was simple. Carly’s family’s property and the Chittering Valley had always been special to them, so it was clear from the start that they’d have a bush wedding.
“We wanted to be able to go straight into a party after the ceremony, so having the two venues close together was important. The whole day was made even more special and personal, because of the family history surrounding both venues. It was really challenging at times to organise every detail and was a lot of hard work setting up in the days before, but the personal touch it bought to the wedding was priceless. ”
While the couple admits that “everything was a bit of a melting pot”, they chose elements for their big day based on their obsession with salsa music, Mexican food, bright colours and that always-fun fiesta vibe. With that in mind, Carly and Paul took on quite a few DIY projects including stationery, lighting, decor and more.
“Basically there was a LOT of hard work done the day before the wedding in 40 degree heat, so the afternoon beers were very well deserved,” explains Carly, whose favourite details were the blooms, thanks to Flower Warehouse and Tracy’s Flowers.
“The native flowers were amazing! They really connected the wedding with the bush surrounds and added awesome colour,” the bride explains, adding that their photographer, Carly of CJ Williams Photography was standout as well.
“She totally understood our style and that we are awkward in posed photos. She made us relax and enjoy the day, we barely even noticed her taking pictures.”
With a boatload of memorable moments, from hugging in a ginormous circle to singing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ at their top of their lungs on the dance floor, the newlyweds tell us, “The day goes so quickly, so make sure you relax and just have fun!”
