We don’t know who came up with the whole ‘Throw Back Thursdays’ thing, but we are sure glad they did! It means we get to re live our fave weddings from past issues of Hello May… like the ever-so-fun Annie and Tim here, one of our super cool couples from Issue four of Hello May who were photographed by the one and only Lakshal Perera. If you want good weather on your wedding day, hire this guy… blue skies and sunshine seem to follow him where ever he goes!
It’s surely the ultimate compliment when, after throwing a wedding, your friend tells you; £It was like a lovely music festival, except without having to go and see any crappy bands. Annie and Tim thought so too, and that friend wasn’t the only guest that had a good time. £Everyone there said they had a great time and loved how us’, relaxed and personal the day was”, Annie says. £It was important to us to use local family-run venues and all local produce from the Bellarine Peninsula for the wedding day meals. We didn’t really have a theme, we just wanted it to represent us and be as authentic as possible.”
Annie and Tim’s wedding had unfolded from an equally authentic morning at home after a couple of years together. Annie said, £We proposed to each other one morning while hanging out at home just the two of us, listening to The Beatles vinyls and talking about our love for each other. It was lovely! The next day Annie arrived home to a candlelit house and Tim playing a song he’d written for her. He re-proposed, this time with a ring. £We are very much in love, we know we want to always be together, and so we just thought why not have a celebration of that love and announce it to the whole world!?
Their love on the day was loud and clear, with an impatient Annie opting to run rather than walk down the aisle to Tim, something that ended up being their favourite moment of the day.
In the lead up to the day, Annie and her bridesmaids Victoria and Ashlee took on the task of creating all their decorations with many crafternoons’ along with some wine, food and laughter of course! £We made paper pom poms, bunting, frames and the love’ sign, says Annie. £We put together the flower bouquets ourselves the night before the wedding with flowers bought from the local market and found in our gardens. I also made homemade lemonade and a yummy Pimms cocktail for the day. Meanwhile Annie’s clever mum Jayne, who runs her own label Mulberry Pie Dresses, made the bridesmaids’ dresses and Annie’s reception dress.
While doing a lot themselves, the couple called on plenty of help and Annie advises; £Don’t be afraid to ask for help with any last minute jobs you need done, especially if there’s a fair bit of DIY involved. We found our amazing friends and family were all really happy to help and be part of the day.
