The days leading up to Anna and Murray’s wedding (first seen in Issue 12) were – put bluntly – kind of disastrous. A groomsmen was in a cycling accident, a bridesmaid’s son was ill, the food truck broke down, the waitstaff never turned up and, to top it all off, there were huge fires in between where the bridal party was getting ready and the reception. However, this bride made sure to keep her cool. £At some point you have to take a deep breath and just laugh it off! says Anna.
Held at Andersons Mill in Victoria, the couple wanted to wow their guests with a space that was equal parts rustic and stunning. With the help of her sister Jane (of Oh Perfect Day) and awesome vendors, like Brown Paper Parcel, C2 Films and Pepper Sprout Hire, Anna created the wedding of her and Murray’s dreams. £We wanted our guests to have a huge amount of fun – on the dance floor, with the photo booth, and also to be creative with our DIY bar, says Anna, who, with the help of her family, did a little (lot of) DIY.
From high-hanging arbours covered in flowers to quince jam favours, a delectable antipasto table and gorgeous lace tambourines, Anna and her crafty crew created a whole lot of beauty to spruce up the historic bluestone mill venue. £I am so glad that we took on the huge challenge of choosing a space where we could bring in all of our own food, alcohol and styling. The wedding was truly us in every sense, even though it was a huge amount of work to plan, explains the bride, whose namesake bridal brand, Anna Campbell, you just might recognise.
As one of Australia’s most popular designers, whose job entails dressing brides every day, Anna knew that the pressure was on to create something spectacular. And we can guarantee that she didn’t disappoint with any one of her FOUR gowns. £From the beginning I knew that I needed more than one dress. Primarily because I love so many aesthetics and finishes and felt like I would be neglecting a floating silk tulle dress if I went for a fitted and embellished dress and vice versa!
While the newlyweds admit it’s pretty impossible to name just one favourite moment from the day, they did tell us their thoughts on married life: £Nowadays weddings aren’t the beginning of your life together, they are more of a celebration of what you already have together. Most couples already live together, some have had children, have already had challenges to overcome, so the wedding for us was more of a huge celebration of how much we love each other.
