It was in New York that Alyce was finally able to uncross her fingers. £I had an inkling that he might propose at some point, or at least I had hoped, says Alyce, one of our brides from our Real Wedding Special, whose wishful thinking obviously worked. Alex popped the question in Central Park and as soon as their holiday was done and dusted, jumped straight on board the wedding bandwagon.
£I surprised myself how much I got into all the planning for the day, says Alex who thought their letterpress invites (a boardgame which took guests on a tour of the venue) were a great way to kickstart their Spring-inspired day.
£The season gave us inspiration for a soft spring palette of pink, green, orange and white, says Alyce who was so excited when she stepped out of her Grandfather’s vintage holden and saw what Georgeous Occasions and Poppies Flowers had done. £Our stylist and florist really blew us away with what they came up with.
Alex was equally impressed by what he saw, telling us, £I know almost every groom would say this but I was totally blown away when I first saw Alyce in her dress. She’d been very secretive about the whole thing but it was certainly worth the wait. She looked stunning.
If that wasn’t enough eye candy for one day, Alyce and Alex’s reception was bursting with beautiful, brightly coloured decorations that doubled as part of the evening’s entertainment – and it was all captured by Jonathan Ong. £My favourite detail was the chatterbox place cards that also doubled as a menu. They even came with a dance move for later in the night, Alyce tells us, surprised when she opened one up and found that Alex had included a custom illustration by Jesses Mess of them and their puppy Maggie as a special thank you to their guests.
£I know a lot of grooms who really step back and let their brides handle everything, however, all the planning you do together is all part of the experience, says Alex, clearly setting the bar high for grooms everywhere.
