First seen in Issue 14, frequent visitors to South West Oz, Jordan planned a surprise trip for Alex that included a picnic at Margaret River’s Secret Garden one morning.
£Whilst we were enjoying our picnic, Jordan shared a poem that he wrote. As he was reading, I realised that he had written it about our relationship and the memorable times we had shared together. At the end of the poem, Jordan was on one knee and asked me to marry him! It was very romantic, explains Alex, who adds that scoping out locations was the most exciting part of the planning process.
£We knew straight away that the Secret Garden was the perfect place for our wedding. We wanted a venue where we could have the ceremony and reception in the one place. Being lovers of nature and the outdoors, we were looking for a venue that encompassed all things natural, to make our wedding feel more like a garden party, the couple tells us, though it was their love for each other that was the real focus of the day.
£We wanted a simple, minimalistic wedding without traditions that didn’t hold meaning. We wanted to share in good
food, wine and conversation with our most loved family and friends. Most of all, we wanted an intimate wedding that was relaxed, where our guests and ourselves could just have fun, says the bride, who rocked a Self Portrait dress and gorgeous hair by The Pretty Parlour.
Though the newlyweds admit they skipped out on the DIY-ing, Alex’s grandmother had no problems getting her hands dirty (in flour and sugar).
£My grandma baked her delicious passionfruit melting moments which we ate with T2 tea and barista coffee after dessert was served and the dancing had begun! Grandma’s melting moments are my favourite treat and bring warm memories and nostalgia of my childhood. It was a special way to involve my grandma in the wedding and share her delicious baking with our guests.
While their magical reception, beautiful flowers and amazing photos, taken by Teneil Kable, were sure standouts, it’s their unique (and cheeky) perspective of marriage that inspired these lovebirds to tie the knot in the first place. Jordan gives us the low-down…
£Marriage means: sharing my food with another human, sitting in the car for five minutes deciding what cafe to go to, going on midnight coconut ice cream road trips, play wrestling until one of us gets hurt, putting on our trackies and watching a kid’s movie, another coffee date, evening beach swims, cleaning the sink after washing up, learning to appreciate life’s beauties, more coffee dates, and being able to wake up every day next to the most caring, beautiful person I have ever met. Did I mention coffee dates?
