Power couple Jess and Craig have been together “eight glorious years, living in three different states, with five years of long distance.” Include a three-and-a-half year engagement (off the back of a movie-like proposal in NYC) and Jess describes their relationship efforts as “epic”. We don’t blame her! A creative and former comedian, the two designed their dream wedding by surprising guests- from the groomsmen that doubled as their celebrant, to the Heads and Tails game guests played at the reception. Thanks to photographer and cinematographer duo, She Takes Pictures, He Makes Films, we can all be a part of it…

THE PROPOSAL I asked Jess to go to Central Park for a walk and a bagel- exactly one year since my nan passed away- and played her the video that I had prepared (it ended with me telling my Nan that I wanted to marry Jess). Her face lit up and I said “Do you approve of me marrying Jess?” Nan said, “Of course. But I think you should ask her first!” At which point, I got on one knee and popped the question. I say one knee, but it was muddy, so I hovered in a lunge… Finally, she said yes!

THE DRESS My Dress was custom made from the beautiful Georgia Young Couture. The moment I met her I just knew she was the one. Georgia is one of the most humble designers I have ever met. She was a dream to work with, I trusted her with my ideas, and nothing was crazy. Especially when I said I wanted a sheer skirt, go WILD. Georgia made me feel like an elegant woman, with a nod to my fashion days and a touch of classic, all rolled into one.

LITTLE LOL Craig’s last name isn’t… great? It’s ‘Annis’, which we know sounds a lot like ‘anus’… So naturally, Jess wasn’t too keen to take on the name. We couldn’t hyphenate our names either because Jess’ last name is Round. We didn’t want to be the ‘Round-Anus’s’… So we both ended up with new names. Evans is [Craig’s] mother’s maiden name and [his] granddad didn’t have any sons, so it was an awesome way for us to continue his legacy and start a fresh life together.

A WORD OF ADVICE Take your time. I mean not as long as us, but enjoy the process, do not force anything. Listen to your gut, trust your tribe and never stress. Remember to always put more work into your relationship than you spend putting into your wedding, as your relationship is forever.

STANDOUT VENDORS Legit, all of them. I really wanted to hire strong independent women in business at the peak of their game. I was floored by Asha from Pomp and Splendour’s honest beauty and approach to flowers. Laura from Wanderlust Creative just got us immediately. She understood and connected with my vision. She trusted me and I trusted her.  She made the day work like clockwork and took care of every little detail. Then you have Lucy, I mean I am not worthy. What a creative, amazing, talented woman. WE should be so lucky.
