Sam and Hui almost gave up hope – unlike their photographer Mitch Pohl, their perfect venue simply didn’t appear to exist. “We struggled to find a venue as we wanted to have it outdoors, preferably facing the sea”, says Sam who admits they thought seriously about eloping.
At the last minute they came across Cliff Top, a luxury bed and breakfast located 90 minutes from Melbourne, and it ticked all their boxes. “We wanted the mood to be romantic, wild and free. Having such a dramatic backdrop, Cliff Top provided that setting for us.”
On the morning of their big day Hui went to pick-up Sam and return her home – a task that wasn’t quite as simple as it sounds. “Traditionally the groom must complete a number of challenges before he’s allowed to see his bride”, explains Hui. “One of the challenges I had to complete was to mimic the dance moves from a Korean girls pop group.”
His reward of course, was Sam, who looked stunning in an embroidered custom gown by Time Taken To Make A Dress. “I highly recommend trying out dresses to find out what looks good on your body and going with a dress maker that you can connect with,” says Sam who later changed into an equally stunning, cherry red gown by Oglia-Loro Couture.
Following tea ceremonies with both their parents they finally arrived at their reception where Melbourne-based florist Cecilia Fox had done an incredible job of transforming their clinically white marquee into a bright and inviting space. “The marquee was exceptional! Our florist Cecilia Fox brought in peonies from New Zealand for us as they were no longer in season in Melbourne.”
