It may have taken a decade but Linnet and Rinaldo’s day, held at Bommerang Farm in sunny Queensland and shot by photographer Julian Beattie, was definitely worth the wait. “We just wanted a day where we could be ourselves!” says Linnet. “Tony suggested JRs Smokehouse Barbecue to be the caterer kind of as a joke and I loved the idea, so we ran with it and created a relaxed, country vibe…”
Together with her friend and owner of Cake and Lala Linnet pulled together a simple, yet beautifully styled reception. “We spent weekends (including family) hunting around for vintage plates and writing everyones name on them with a sharpie pen and used these as place cards”, says Linnet who wore a ruffled, Carla Zampatti gown while eating ribs with her bare hands and playing Bocce.
“Playing Bocce between the ceremony and reception meant a lot to me… every time my family gets together we always play Bocce!” Linnet tells us, adding “We also wanted to stress in our ceremony (conducted by the fab Kate from Inner Circle Ceremonies) that even though by law, marriage is between a man and a woman, Tony and I believe that anyone who loves each other should be able to get married and we hope one day the law reflects that.”
In the meantime, we hope Linnet continues to showcase her epic dance moves. “My bridesmaids and friends just turned into primary school kids and spent the entire night on the stage with impromptu performances. They all loved being the centre of attention!”‘
