Oh! So you want to get married! Wonderful, brilliant, perfect idea. I’m in! I’m Harriett, a wedding celebrant who is warm, funny and bright.

So, you’ve gone and gotten engaged to the LOYL (love of your life). Now you’re planning a wedding that feels just like you and your betrothed.

You care about how your ceremony looks (hello duh!), but you also really care about how it feels. Equal parts heart and humour is the goal.

You want your ceremony to be the perfect length. Not too long that your grandparents fall asleep or get heatstroke. But not too short that your friends aren’t able to lock in and revel in your Love Story.

I write your ceremony from scratch, making it a total reflection of the two of you and how your relationship feels. The sum parts of both of you.

I’m also a trained jazz singer, avid collector of Murano glass, Olivia Benson’s best friend, and a big enthusiast of people getting married. I think a ceremony should speak to the very best parts of you and your love. That’s why the ceremonies I craft focus totally on you and your partner.

What do we need to include in our ceremony?

Literally there are only 3 legal requirements for you to get married. The rest of your ceremony is completely up to you! We work together to craft a ceremony that has all of the good bits that are important to you. Really want to have personal vows? Perfect, I can send you my vow writing guide. Loathe the idea of a reading? No problems doll, we don’t need one! Want to dance down the aisle to Donna Summer? Literally same!!! (and I already did!) Your wedding, your way, with expert guidance from me to pull it all together.

Can you play our ceremony music?

Yes! Having your celebrant be fully in charge of the music makes for extremely seamless transitions. I adore live music at weddings but if it’s out of the budget or just not that important to you, then I am very happy to play your selected ceremony tunes through my speaker. I’ll always pop on a playlist for when guests arrive too. Music really helps create a great atmosphere.

We read that you’re a trained jazz singer. Can you sing at our wedding too?

Yes I can, and I consider it the highest honour! If you’re after pre or post ceremony cocktail style music, I’m your gal (and also your celebrant). I have had the privilege of singing my couples down the aisle, working closely with them to arrange and perform their dream wedding song as they walk down the aisle. It’s a true delight to perform two special roles for you on your wedding day.

Yeah okay but what do you actually do?

Fair question. Each booking takes between 15–20 hours of work in the lead-up to your ceremony. This work includes back-and-forth emails with you, planning meetings, taking care of all official paperwork, writing your fully personalised ceremony, liaising with your other wedding vendors to ensure a smooth wedding day for all, and finally, performing the ceremony on the day!
If I’m your celebrant, this will also include use of my state-of-the-art PA system and the knowledge that I will swan around pre-ceremony hyping up all your guests. I also promise not to lurk in the background of your first kiss and thus in all of your gorgeous photos!
