Here at Hello May we’re usually all for something a little left field, but this wedding goes to show that sometimes a bit of tradition goes a long way in creating a truly unforgettable day. These romantic images of St Mary’s Cathedral in Geelong, taken by uber-talented photographer Lakshal Perera have made us very nostalgic for all things old-fashioned.
They’re timeless and magnificent and much like true love – grand, overwhelming and everlasting. Her in her white dress, him in his handsome suit, the stunning archways and high, stained glass ceilings are almost too much for words (and for us that’s a big deal!).
Luckily when words fail, we can just talk about something else – like how these days we can do weddings however we want, which is exactly what Jody and Chris did. Following on from their traditional ceremony they chose a very relaxed, cocktail style reception at Jack Rabbit winery, overlooking Victoria’s beautiful Bellarine peninsula.
Sadly, Chris’s Nonna was too sick to attend their special day. “That was really disappointing”, said Jody and Chris, two kind people who have always known what matters most – good food, good company and lots of laughter. So instead they went to her, making a brief detour on their way to the reception.
Everything was otherwise perfect. “Our first dance was an amazing moment”, said Jody. ” There were one hundred people in that room but it could have been empty for all I knew. I will remember that moment for the rest of my life”.
