Let’s start here… Your wedding morning is not the time to be introduced to your hairstylist for the first time. That’s why trials, real conversations, and getting to know each other properly, is so central to how I work.

I’ve spent over 20 years behind the chair, but the short version is this: I chase good hair the way some people chase good coffee β€” relentlessly, and usually across a few time zones. Training in Sydney, Melbourne and across the United States, working backstage at Fashion Week, styling at festivals across Australia and being part of some incredible artistic teams along the way β€” shaping an alluring, classic-meets-modern aesthetic that is unmistakably my style… and yours!

Here’s the bit that actually matters to you… I’m a solo artist, so you get me and only me, from your very first trial through to your last dance β€” the same familiarity, start to finish. Because travel is basically my love language, I take that same calm, unflappable energy to weddings wherever they happen, whether it’s just down the road, outback rural Queensland, to the coast or on the other side of the world.

My trials aren’t a box-tick either. They’re where we figure out what actually suits you, test how your hair holds up, and build the kind of comfort that makes me feel less like “the vendor” and more like the friend fixing your hair before the aisle.

I’ve picked up a few awards along the way, but my brides’ reviews will always mean more.

FAQ

What makes your wedding hairstyling business different from others in the industry?

Fashion Week chaos and wedding-morning chaos aren’t so different β€” turns out the skills transfer perfectly, and my job is to make sure your morning flows so calmly you would never realise if there was even a hint of the “C” word. Backstage precision, calm under pressure with a can do mindset, and a classic-meets-modern eye built through pure passion and continued dedication to honing my craft. That’s what makes me different. As a solo, travel-loving hair artist, I bring all of that to you, wherever your wedding happens to be.

Why do you recommend a hair trial?

Because your wedding morning shouldn’t be the first time we’ve met. A trial is where we work out what actually suits you β€” and it’s often more revealing than my clients expect. A style can look stunning in your mind, or on Pinterest, but once it’s actually on you it can feel like a completely different thing.

It might still be a beautiful style, just not necessarily the most beautiful version of you. That’s where I come in β€” gently guiding you toward the options that truly suit your features, so you walk away feeling like the best, most authentic version of yourself.

A trial also lets us test how your hair holds up over a long day, and gives us time to get comfortable enough that by your wedding morning, I feel like a friend in the room β€” not just someone doing a job.

Do you travel for weddings across Australia or internationally?

Always, and I genuinely love it. I have a real appreciation for tradition, culture and the different ways love is celebrated around the world, and travelling for weddings is one of the most beautiful ways I get to witness that. Every culture brings its own customs and symbolism to a wedding day, and being trusted to be part of that is something I never take for granted.

As a solo artist, I’m not restricted by a studio or a team roster, so wherever your wedding is happening, I can be there, with exactly the same care, attention and experience you’d get if I were just down the road.

If you’re planning a destination wedding, or one that celebrates traditions close to your heart, I’d love to be part of it β€” reach out early so we can start talking trials, travel logistics and timing.

What is included in your wedding packages?

It starts with a quick enquiry through my website, but from there, it’s a real conversation β€” I want to properly understand your vision before we talk logistics. Packages typically include a trial, styling for you on the morning itself, and touch-ups to keep you flawless well into the reception. I can also accommodate your bridal party, so nobody in your photos is left out of the glow-up. Every detail β€” timing, styling, extras β€” gets locked in together around six weeks out, so nothing is left to guesswork.

How do you keep everything organised leading up to the wedding?

You get access to my very own Carmen Hair Artistry Client App, so all your details β€” timelines/schedules, wedding party info, payment reminders and everything in between β€” are stored in one place, accessible to you whenever you need them. It keeps the entire process streamlined and stress-free, so nothing gets lost in a string of texts or emails, and you always know exactly where things stand.

Do you offer anything beyond wedding-day styling, including cuts and colour?

Absolutely β€” I love being part of your entire journey, not just the final morning. If you’re after a fresh cut or colour ahead of your wedding, I offer the full service out of a premium salon in Toowoomba, so your hair isn’t just beautifully styled on the day, but healthy, glossy and camera-ready from the inside out. Whether that’s a subtle refresh or a bigger transformation, we can build it into your timeline well in advance, so by the time your wedding morning arrives, your hair is already in its best possible condition β€” leaving styling to do the rest.

How far in advance should we book you?

I’d recommend booking around 12 months ahead, particularly for popular spring dates. Wedding season fills quickly, and because I only take on one wedding per day as a solo artist, dates can book out well in advance. That said, if your wedding is sooner and you’re wondering whether there’s still room, it never hurts to ask β€” I’m always more than happy to accommodate if I can!

How would you describe your styling aesthetic?

Classic-meets-modern, always with timeless sophistication at the core. My focus is on styles that lean into being fashion forward, but still look incredible in your photos decades from now, not just on the day.

Whether it’s soft, undone waves or a structured upstyle, every look is tailored to complement your natural features and face shape, because the goal is never to change you, it’s to enhance you. My mission has always been simple: to create “you, enhanced” β€” polished, elevated, but still completely, recognisably yourself.

What happens if it rains, the timeline changes, or something goes wrong on the day?

Honestly? This is exactly where those Fashion Week experiences come in handy. Wedding days rarely go perfectly to plan, and that’s okay β€” a sudden timeline shift, unexpected weather, or a last-minute hair emergency doesn’t rattle me. If rain is on the cards, I come prepared with products and setting sprays designed to combat moisture, and if needed, we can even adjust to a style that holds up beautifully against the elements while still looking every bit as stunning.

Whatever the day throws at us, my job isn’t just doing hair β€” it’s making sure you feel completely looked after, never like you’re managing a problem alone.

What's a hair myth you wish would disappear?

That you need dirty hair for an upstyle to hold! It’s honestly one of my biggest myth-busting missions. Clean hair is actually your best friend on wedding morning β€” it takes product beautifully, holds curls and texture perfectly, and styles into whatever look we’re going for without needing a mountain of dry shampoo or disturbing your roots. It also means your style lasts longer β€” take the pins out, give it a brush, and if you’re lucky, it’ll fall beautifully into soft waves or curls you can enjoy for a couple more days after the wedding.
