As Tass and Tom embarked on wedding planning, they quickly realised that building a celebration from scratch simply wasn’t their style. So it was serendipitous that they stumbled upon The Altar Electric on social media – an all-inclusive, Vegas-inspired gem in Melbourne.

“As soon as we visited in person we knew it was perfect for us because all we would need to do was dress ourselves and show up on the day! Sarah (our celebrant) put our worries at ease and we booked our wedding that afternoon for two months from that day!”

In the wedding world, two months is a short turnaround, sure, but these two had a top notch team, so there was no reason to sweat. The Altar Electric organised many of the details,
She Takes Pictures He Makes Films were “incredible” behind the camera, Mali Bakes‘ vibrant cake was “absolutely delicious,” and content creator Afterglow Content captured “perfect” footage of the celebration.

Fave wedding details: sister-made florals, sentimental jewels & a colourful cake

“My sister Tina made my bouquet and Tom’s boutonnière. I gave her a picture of a bouquet I’d seen online and she made it so perfectly. Tom also (very sneakily) organised the most beautiful locket from Jaz Hand Made, with a photo of my late mum Roula in it, to be wrapped around my bouquet, so she would be with me when I walked down the aisle. It is now so special to me and I wear it almost every day. Our wedding cake was made by Mali Bakes and it was absolutely delicious. We wanted the cake to be colourful and to stand out against the pink walls at the venue, and it did that perfectly.”

The bride’s strapless mini bridal gown from MWL

“I tried on what felt like every white dress in Melbourne before heading to a bridal boutique. I had a consultation at MWL in Carnegie with my sister Angelique, four weeks out from the wedding! Luckily, I found the most perfect mini dress that felt so me. I was really anxious I wouldn’t have time to alter it for the big day, but the team in store were so kind and assured me it would be ready in time, which it was.”

Where this Melbourne couple found their micro wedding vendors

“We found our content creator Sabine (Afterglow Content) through Hello May! We didn’t know where to start with finding someone for content, so using the directory was really helpful. And we found Mali Bakes and The Altar Electric through Instagram.”

Teary aisle moments and dance floor memories

“My favourite memory of the night was when Tass walked down the aisle. Between my tears and her smile I was so overwhelmed with love and happiness. I needed a moment to gather myself when she stood in front of me for the ceremony to start. A close second was spending time with her on the dance floor, cutting shapes and screaming our lungs out to our favourite songs.”

Standout Melbourne photography, wedding content and venue

“Our vendors were all so amazing and easy to communicate with! Lucy and Alastair from She Takes Pictures He Makes Films were so incredible at capturing the night. We were nervous about photographing awkwardly but they made us feel so at ease and captured the night so perfectly, we look back at the photos all the time! Sarah, TJ and the team at The Altar Electric CRUSHED it! The dance floor was pumping, the ceremony was delivered so beautifully and the night just felt so smooth. We literally had nothing to worry about! Sabine from Afterglow Content was also just incredible – the footage she captured of the night was so perfect and so us.”
