When the time came to announce their engagement to friends and fam, Jemma (a marketing and comms specialist) and Jeremy (a PGA pro golfer) had a second surprise up their sleeves – the whole celebration was already organised. Yep, these lovebirds planned the whole shebang in secret. Impressive! “We wanted the planning experience to be totally ours,” the couple explain. “We didn’t want thousands of other’s opinions, nor did we want to talk about it to everyone we spoke to for the entirety of that next year.”
Living in South West WA, the pair had “heard only exceptional things” about The Tiller Farm, which would lend itself beautifully to the laid-back, simple, and genuine vibe the couple were after. “After one visit together, it was locked in,” they share. “We love their focus on sustainability throughout all elements of operations, but we especially loved how minimalistic event space and breathtakingly grand the natural beauty of the vast landscape….”
Take your time wandering through their wedding album, captured by Emma MacAulay, there’s much to adore. That ground arbour for starters, the piñata (in lieu of cake), and blissful moments zipping ‘round on Jemma’s dad’s Vespa. Not to mention the lewks. Our bob-sporting bride wore KYHA, adding a custom bow, bridesmaids donned dreamy, earthy tones (with Bec + Bridge in the mix), and for the guys’ there was “no question” that M.J. Bale would have their backs.

THE FIRST LOOK | ENJOYING COCKTAIL HOUR
“The first look created an extremely special moment for the two of us, as well as our nearest and dearest watching on nearby. It gave us much more time together and helped prolong the day. Come cocktail hour, we got to mingle and catch up with all of our guests, ate and drank all of the incredible things we had been dreaming of for so long. We truly couldn’t imagine why anyone would want to miss this time if they could help it.”
SOLO WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING | THE BRIDE’S CUSTOM BOW
“The dress is a KYHA Studios design, with an added tulle bow at the back. After circling around many other styles, I returned back to the style I originally pictured myself in, and the second one I had tried. I found trusting my initial feelings was the key. I also shopped alone and would highly recommend! The tulle bow came from a love of the ‘dramatic veil blowing in the wind’ vibe, however I knew anything on my head would annoy me and my hairstyle was less than ideal for fixing a veil to. The answer was about 7m of tulle from Spotlight, press-studded into the back of the existing tulle component of the dress.”
A SEAMLESS SUIT SHOPPING EXPERIENCE WITH M.J. BALE
“M.J. Bale is a personal fav, so there was no question about where I would be getting my kit from. It was kind of a one-stop-shop experience for me. They also offered an awesome deal to receive a discount if your groomsmen paid a visit too. You can’t go wrong with these guys!”
FINDING WEDDING INSPIRATION
“I got a lot of inspiration from Hello May and even spotted a feature of our photographer (Emma MacAulay) who I already had my eye on at the time. I found the venue’s Instagram the #1 best tool for finding vendors. These vendors were local, meaning more cost effective, and they were regulars, meaning they were very familiar with the location and had positive relationships with the venue. These factors showed in the quality of service we received from every single vendor.”
THE PINATA CAKE | WEDDING CAKE ALTERNATIVE
“Our proudest DIY achievement had to be the piñata cake. We aren’t huge cake eaters, so it was only natural to smash one instead.”
STANDOUT WESTERN AUSTRALIAN WEDDING VENDORS
“Our photographer Emma MacAulay was absolutely unreal. One of our favourite memories from the day was watching her sprint after us on the Vespa, it was bloody hilarious but gosh was she good. Between periods of totally forgetting she was even there, Emma just felt like another one of our mates, having a good time, giving great vibes. The Tiller Farm was the most incredible venue and caterer we could have ever asked for. Their standards are next level and they go above and beyond to make sure your day is the greatest of all time.”
