Our first impression of Danique and Bart’s day was that it was incredibly romantic – like something straight from an old film. Held over two days at Hoeve Vernelsberg in the Netherlands, their aim was to create a laid back get together for their closest friends and family.
“Everybody worked together to make the whole thing come alive”, says Danique who loved every moment of their day of good times, which was flawlessly captured by photographer Melissa Milis. “We loved our first look moment, it was very special to see and hold each other for the first time after a stressful morning of getting ready. We also really loved reading our personal vows to each other and sitting around the campfire at night listening to one of our favourite Dutch singer songwriters sing to us”, says Danique who went above and beyond to make everything look lovely, namely their decorations and flowers.
“We made a lot of decorations, picked wildflowers, made goodie bags including a mixtape and baked two of the cakes ourselves and served them along the cakes our mothers and friends made.” They also served soup over an open flame and simply enjoyed the idea of being married. Wearing a floaty, white chiffon and lace J.Crew dress Danique tells us, “Now we get to experience all the adventures life will bring us as Husband and Wife. The good and the bad, travel the world, see beauty, fill homes with memories, get old and grey and hold each other’s wrinkled hands until the end. So special!”
