Overlooking the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Anita and Kerrod’s nuptials were low in stress and formalities, but high in music, laughs, and laid-back energy. “We just wanted our day to feel like a party,” they share.
The Old Dairy in Maleny was well equipped to accommodate the party vibe the couple were after. Not to mention those stunning sweeping views. Wowsers. And, as you can see, photographer Fennel & Fern captured every moment beautifully, all while honouring the couple’s request to not spend too much time away from their guests. What a legend.
Now Mr and Mrs, we caught up with the couple to ask them about those beautiful crimson and peach blooms, Anita’s dress shopping experience with The Veil Collective, and how Beyonce helped get the pre-aisle nerves out.
A Vibrant Floral Ceremony by Willow Bud Flowers
“The flowers were a stand out for me. The team at Willow Bud executed the exact vision I had. I had even made some very last minute additions, which they were able to happily accommodate. The bright colours and overall set up of the arrangements just blew me away. I especially loved the stemmed flowers down either side of the aisle. We also loved the way Simply Style Co were able to stage the outdoor area. It created such a nice space for everyone to gather. [We had] some children at the wedding and they were able to play lawn games and run around with the adults close by.”
Finding the Perfect Dress at The Veil Collective
“I found my dream dress at The Veil Collective. My mum, bridesmaids and I went on a dress hunt for one day, with three locations booked in. I loved a dress at every place, however when I put this dress on, I could tell before I had even seen myself in a mirror that it was the one, and the reactions of my mum and bridesmaids just sealed the deal. I loved the off shoulder ruffles at the top and the drama of it all. I felt very lucky to have had such a positive experience searching for ‘the one’.”
Why they loved the first look
Our favourite moment was the first look we did prior to the wedding. We were both getting very nervous and it was so nice to share a moment together before the wedding, get the tears out and then we could just focus on having fun at the ceremony, which is exactly what we did.
Shaking Off Nerves with Beyoncé Before the Aisle
“I also really enjoyed the last moment before we walked down the aisle. I was inside with my dad, bridesmaids and our 7 year old daughter, Ava. Ava had said she had started to feel funny in her tummy – she was nervous. We put on a Beyonce song and all danced our nerves out before walking down the aisle. It was such a fun way to shake off the nerves and a moment I won’t ever forget.

“Our photographer [Fennel & Fern], was equally amazing. We had told her that we want to spend as much time as possible with guests and asked if she could just work around that. She did just that, but still managed to capture the most beautiful photos. Anita also pulled us away at sunset and captured some of the most stunning photos we have ever seen. We will cherish those forever.”

“[Guests are still raving about] the late night food truck! Everyone loved the late night feed at the end of a big day. The venue! We have had so many comments about how spectacular the location of the Old Dairy is.”
