Dripping in vibrant colour and playful details, every single inch of Ron and Dinah’s Fitzroy wedding was deeply intentional, hence why we can’t get enough of it, or the resulting pics (shoutout to Sentient Studio behind the camera).

Tweaking tradition, Ron and Dinah essentially had two aisles. Both walked to meet each other under the Chuppah, which was lovingly made by the bride using tablecloths from both sides of the family, “symbolically and spiritually joining the families together.”

Later, to close out the night, Ron would approach the piano gifting guests a cover of This Must Be the Place by Talking Heads. “Singing directly to my new (fairly teary!) new wife in front of our friends and family is a wonderful memory for me,” the groom shared.

Then there’s the lucky raffle and surprise first dance – not to mention the bride and groom’s iconic ensembles. Look, we could go on and on and on, but you get the idea – these two really made it their own, weaving select, meaningful Jewish wedding customs with highly personalised, quirky elements. And they did it with the help of Logan Events, explaining that hiring them as wedding planner was “honestly the best decision we made”.

A masterclass in both honouring and bucking tradition all at the same time, check out Ron and Dinah’s day below…

VERSATILE SPACES

Edinburgh Gardens is a special spot for both of us individually and as a couple. We have many memories of picnics, walks, lazy Sunday reading sessions, and hangs with friends. Our friends Adele and Dan got married at 75 Reid St and their wedding had this undeniable energy of love and life. We were inspired by how the large hall and high ceilings had enough character and blank walls to be transformable to any occasion with any intention… We wanted to find a location which was walking distance from the Chuppah (ceremony) so that the whole wedding could walk together to the reception. When 75 Reid St is not hired out for weddings, it is used by local community groups. Knowing this was an added bonus layer and feeling to the overall day and meaning to our wedding.”

SURPRISE WEDDING RAFFLE

“Everyone got a ticket at the start of reception and the winner was announced at the end of the evening. The winner, our good friend Musty, won a one of a kind cap reading “I won the raffle at Dinah and Ron’s wedding”.”

THE BRIDAL LOOK

“I knew I wanted something that felt comfortable, chic, flattering and like myself… One day while scrolling on Instagram I came across a post from Paris Fashion Week. An Indian designer (Vaishali S Studio) was showcasing their contour collection filled with incredible textures and handmade silk and sustainable design practices. I of course followed the designers page and became obsessed. Finally I decided to check out their website and see if their pieces were within our budget. This is where I saw and fell deeply in love with the cape. Communicating with the designer was seamless and delivery was fast and easy.”

DESIGNING THE SUIT

“Our dress code emphasised colour, and I wanted to make sure I led by example. I commissioned my suit from James with Reigner Clothing. James was very helpful in proposing a few designs that matched my vision: bright, colourful, solid. I worked off his designs to ultimately finalise my own design in Microsoft Paint – bright orange, with a pink label and pockets – which James replicated faithfully in the final design.”

INSPO HUNTING

“We found some of our main vendors from word of mouth, experiences at weddings, our incredible wedding planners and of course Hello May.”

A LOVE NOTE TO LOGAN EVENTS

“Dani from Logan Events was available to answer any questions we had throughout the whole process. She instantly took all planning responsibilities onboard the day we hired her and literally saved us! Dani even went above and beyond to organise kick ons at a local bar on a Sunday evening. On the day, Maria (Logan Events) ran the event. She always had the loveliest smile and communicated calmly and clearly to the both of us throughout the event. If there was a hiccup during the day, we had no idea because she was on top of it all!”
