As long-time admirers of Melbourne-based jeweller Black Finch, we’ve always been drawn to their thoughtful approach to design – and their latest offerings are no exception. With a deep respect for the stories jewellery carries, Black Finch Jewellery has recently launched two new services designed to honour the past while creating something entirely new: the Heirloom Transformation Service and Gold Swap Program.
Both initiatives are part of the brand’s enduring Legacy of Love circularity ethos, a philosophy that has guided Black Finch since its founding in 2007. Over time, they’ve seen a growing number of couples bring in heirloom gold and gemstones to be reimagined into custom masterpieces. Whether it’s redesigning a vintage engagement ring or incorporating Nanna’s diamonds into a modern setting, there’s something incredibly special about giving old treasures a second life. And with gold prices soaring, more couples are turning to heirloom materials as a sentimental and sustainable way to create their dream ring.
The Ultimate in Circularity
Black Finch believes that jewellery should carry both beauty and meaning. Tucked away in jewellery boxes and drawers are worn-down chains, broken rings, oversized signets, and outdated styles, sometimes even pieces carrying heavy memories. These two new services are designed to honour those stories while creating something fresh and enduring.
Heirloom Transformation Service
This bespoke offering allows clients to rework heirloom materials into a custom Black Finch design. From first sketch to final setting, the team works closely with you to preserve the emotion behind each piece while crafting something wearable, personal, and new. Once your design is complete, skilled artisans begin the transformation in the Melbourne studio. Each stone and setting is handled with the utmost care, ensuring your heirloom’s integrity and sentiment are thoughtfully preserved.
Gold Swap Program
For those with pre-loved gold they no longer wear, Black Finch is now offering store credit in exchange. That credit can be put toward custom designs, ready-to-ship pieces, made-to-order favourites or even gifted on to someone special.
How it works…
- Gather your old gold pieces.
- Head in store to Black Finch for assessment (book a consultation here).
- Gold is weighed, acid tested, and valued at the current gold rate.
- Once the quote is approved, store credit will be issued.
- Credit can be used across the Black Finch collection or services.
With these two services, Black Finch deepens its commitment to sustainability, circularity, and emotionally resonant design. Each piece that passes through their hands carries a story, and the opportunity to become something entirely new.
Don’t just take our word for it – these couples entrusted Black Finch Jewellery with their rings and couldn’t be happier! Jess & Alex’s cool Collingwood day and Izzie & Tom’s unique Melbourne wedding has inspo in spades!
