For Libby and Ronan marriage is “saying ‘cheers’ to a life filled with laughter, adventure and quiet, ordinary moments of love.” And FYI, when they say ‘adventure’, they don’t mean it metaphorically. These two got engaged hiking the dunes of the Wahiba Desert and, just two months before their wedding day, decided to pack up their home, sell their belongings, and set off on a “loosely planned” road trip through East Africa. “Thankfully, our incredible vendors were so patient with us (and our patchy internet access) and somehow we managed to pull it all together right at the eleventh hour.”
That team included Larsen Jewellery (responsible for the all-important rings), Rickys River Bar and Restaurant (the Noosa locale where the party went down), and Cooper Brady, who candidly captured all the unforgettable moments. “Coop was the first person we locked in and an absolute dream.”
Relaxed, warm, joyful seaside bliss (and plenty of inspo) below.
NOOSA WEDDING VENUE
“As soon as we got engaged, we knew Noosa was where we wanted to get married. While we’re both originally from Sydney, Libby’s parents moved to Noosa about five years ago, and since then it’s become such a special place for us. When it came to the venue, our checklist was simple: it had to be in Noosa, near the water, and have a relaxed vibe. We also knew a DIY venue wasn’t for us. Rickys was only the third venue we visited, but the moment we sat down for lunch there, we knew it was the one. . . . Sinead and the team at Ricky’s are just so good at what they do. We had so many guests give the feedback that they’d never had such good food and such good service at a restaurant before, let alone at a wedding! Everything was perfect, from the unbeatable view of the sunset over the river and incredible local seafood, to the free-flowing cocktails and surprise dance floor espresso martinis. No one left hungry or thirsty, that’s for sure! We also love their farm to plate ethos, with all food waste transformed into compost for their Noosa Hinterland farm, which produces vegetables, citrus, honey, and nuts for the restaurant.”
WEDDING FLOWERS
“One of my favourite details from the day was the stunning flowers created by Kerrie at Bloom & Bush. We only gave her a very general idea of what we liked and then trusted her completely, so seeing the arrangements on the day was such a beautiful surprise. A couple of details felt especially meaningful – the small white orchids on the boutonnieres, which were a nod to Ronan’s mum as they hold a special place in Thai culture, and the tulips, included in honour of my Dutch grandfather. We also loved the palm tree motif woven through our invitations, menus, and signage. Both of us grew up with palm trees in our family gardens, so seeing them throughout the day brought a lovely sense of warmth and nostalgia from our childhoods.”
WHERE DID YOU FIND YOUR WEDDING VENDORS?
“We started out by looking through blogs like Hello May, which gave us some great inspiration. Once we began locking in our key vendors, we were lucky to be able to ask them for recommendations of people they’d enjoyed working with… Cooper Brady, our photographer, and the Rickys team, were both particularly helpful here!”
STANDOUT QUEENSLAND PHOTOGRAPHER
“Honestly, we couldn’t have been any luckier with our brilliant group of vendors! Coop, our photographer, was the first person we locked in and an absolute dream. We were really drawn to his genuine, natural, documentary style; we knew that it was more important for us to have the day artistically and lovingly captured as it naturally unfolded, rather than have formal photoshoots that took us away from everyone. And the photos speak for themselves; they capture all of the warmth and love of the day.”

Treat your eyeballs to more Noosa nuptials hosted at Rickys (it’s one of our top coastal venues for good reason). Or if jewels are next on the to-do list check out Larsen Jewellery’s skills in all things sparkly – they’re understandably a fave among HM couples.
