Emer and Tom, who have been together “forever literally” (well, since they were 16), farewelled their fiancé era with a colourful, “funky and fun” Fitzroy wedding. If marrying your high school sweetheart wasn’t enough excitement for one week, the pair also moved house just four days before their I-dos. “We were so exhausted but also excited for the day! Most hectic week of our lives!”. The ceremony was “hands down” the highlight according to this new Mr and Mrs, who won’t soon forget The Knave’s side-splitting Elvis impersonation or their tear-jerking vows to each other. ”Especially Tom’s”, the Bride adds, “I’m not a crier, but I wept. They were beautiful.”

THE VENUE “We browsed over Instagram and found Panama Dining Room and its gallery. The photos and vibe looked amazing, and upon inspection, we were sold straight away! Loved the indoor plant decor; also, the tasting was great.”
FAVE DETAILS “The flowers!!! Totally obsessed with the florals. We gave full creative direction to the florist (Blossm Bby), and she did such an amazing job. We also had a photo backdrop that our friend Janelle made with a Polaroid camera and pictures of our pets, Tofu and Opie, for people to hold up in photos so they were included in the day. And of course, The Knave as Elvis, he made us laugh so much during the ceremony. It was such a highlight, and probably our favourite moment of the whole day.”
THE DRESS “My dress was from Zimmermann and I bought it maybe two-and-a-half years before the wedding, lol. I couldn’t help myself. When I saw it, I knew it was the one, so I took the risk and bought it super early, and I’m so happy I did. I also changed into pants and a top for the reception. The set was from Dissh. I was able to dance all night long in the set and be super comfortable.”
THE SUIT “I initially didn’t know the style that I wanted at the beginning. I knew I wanted some colour and something fun and looked online for ideas and found a style of green jacket and white pants that I liked. I went into Peter Jackson and found the green that I liked. It fit well without needing to tailor – meant to be. I usually ruin most outfits, so I went for a cheap white loose chino pant from Uniqlo. Although they didn’t stay clean for long.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “Have fun, treat it like a party so you don’t let the stress take you over. Book everything in advance to make your life easier and set aside some time during the reception where just you two can take in the day.”
THE TUNES “Aisle song: Daylight by Taylor Swift (I am a HUGE swiftie). Recessional song: Burning Love by Elvis, sung by The Knave live. And first dance song: I’m In Love With You by The 1975.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “We adored our photographer, Liz, and her brother Jackson, the videographer. We felt semi-anxious about getting our photos taken, but they made us feel so at ease. They didn’t make it cringe at all. We really appreciated it (She also played Taylor Swift on a little speaker while she took our post-ceremony photographs). And another shoutout to our florist (Blossm Bby), who really came through with the flower centrepiece for the ceremony; it was absolutely stunning.”
