Coupled up for nearly eight years, Katie and Brody made it offish with a relaxed, warm celebration hosted at Katie’s grandparents’ Murray River property. “[We wanted to create] a warm and inviting atmosphere, where everyone felt comfortable and at home.”
Looking back, the pair would highly recommend doing a ‘first look’ and rank it among their fave memories from the day. The funniest moment, however? Well, that would be when they learnt their friend Sam had secretly bought a limo for the couple and their ‘I do’ crew to enjoy for the day. “After our ‘first look,’ we piled in, expecting a leisurely ride back to our accommodation. Instead, we found ourselves at Tailem Bend Motorsport Park [for a] hot lap around the race track. It was a chaotic, unexpected adventure that left us all in stitches.”
Choons & Moovz were on site to make sure the d-floor was pumping, and, as a marriage celebrant herself, Kara knew just who to call to capture the day: her friend (and ours) Jacob Jennings. Strap in and scroll on; this one’s a goodie!
THE VENUE “My grandparents have lived in their beautiful home on the river for as long as I can remember. All of my favourite childhood memories are there. Brody has spent a lot of time with me there, too and loves it. It has sentimental value but also was nice in that it is halfway between our hometowns, so it was like we were meeting in the middle of our favourite places and people.”
FAVE DETAILS “Some of my favourite details from the day were personal touches that made everything feel even more special. The flowers were created by my dear friend Lucie from Bloom Jar Flowers. I never thought flowers would make me emotional, but when she delivered them on the big day, there I was with tears in my eyes. Having my close friends Jacob as the photographer and Crystal (Stumble Studio) as the videographer/content creator was another highlight. Not only did they capture the day to perfection, but they also made us feel incredibly comfortable throughout. We had an absolute ball with them, and I couldn’t have asked for a better duo to document our day. We also decided to share a first look, and I’m so glad we chose to do it. It was such an intimate and special moment, just the two of us, and it set the perfect tone for the rest of the day and also allowed us to maximise time with guests later.”
THE DRESS “I found my dress at The Bride Lab, and the experience was both unexpected and delightful. I walked in nervously and open-mindedly, adamant about one thing – I didn’t want a strapless dress. But, as fate would have it, the strapless gown I tried on turned out to be the one. The team at The Bride Lab was amazing, making me feel so comfortable and supported throughout the process. I visited three different dress stores, but when I tried on this particular dress, it was like the saying goes: when you know, you know. I remember telling the girls, ‘If I was to marry Brody in this dress tomorrow, I’d be happy.’ And that’s when I knew I had found the one.”
STANDOUT VENDORS “ALL of our vendors were fantastic. Extra special thanks to Jacob (photographer) and Crystal (Videographer/content creator) who made us feel calm, completely at ease and filled with joy.”
