“Trusty old Hinge” is who we have to thank for bringing Lucy and Adam together. The lovebirds met amidst Melbourne lockdowns and got to know each other over a series of super sweet and socially distanced dates. “Finally, when we decided to take the next step, [Adam] invited me over for dinner at his house at 7:30pm when there was an 8pm curfew. Cheeky boy knew I’d probably have to sleep over! I’m glad we got to spend so much time together at the beginning because we fell in love very quickly!”

Their Mornington Peninsula nups were peak elegance, and a “reunion like no other”, with loved ones making the journey from around the world including Adam’s family from Montreal and Lucy’s from Hong Kong. Cute and always comfy, Bared Footwear was the perfect pairing for the bride’s floral frock, and our muso mates Baker Boys Band brought the tunes. The newlyweds had so many special things to say about photographer Amanda Alessi, as well as some sage advice for anyone approaching the aisle…

LITTLE LOL “We had done a lot of things ourselves in the lead-up to the wedding, including hand-writing everyone’s names on this beautiful textured paper that I’d found. I was really proud of how they looked, and we also wrote little notes to some of our friends on the back. I had gone to Victoria before Adam [and he] was to drive up with a lot of our wedding things a week or so later. The day before we checked into our hotel, I asked Adam where the name cards were, and he didn’t know. “YOU HAD ONE JOB!” I yelled, which did not help the situation and also was NOT true. Poor Adam. Not wanting the bride and groom to fight, [our families] went into action mode, [helping us] re-do the whole thing. We made a production line, and everyone got involved. Now, when I look at the place cards we used, I love them so much more as they remind me of all of us sitting at the table, coming together.”

FAVE DETAILS (Adam) “The floral arrangements by Amalfi Florist. She had such great energy on the day, and the flowers she made really represented us. She had orchids for Lucy’s Chinese side, Australian natives and Canadian maple. It’s all the small things that made us feel really special.” (Lucy) “I really loved the photo booth (In the Booth). What I loved about them was that they printed out two copies of your photos, one for the guest book and one for you to keep. I also loved our photographer, Amanda Alessi and videographer, John Kurt. They were such a great team and brought out the best of our chaotic energy.”

MEMORABLE MOMENT “One of my favourite moments of the day was when the whole wedding party went outside to take some photos. I don’t know how it happened, but we ended up breaking out in a full-on dance-off. [It resulted in] some pretty hilarious photos. The energy was so high, and we didn’t really care what the photos were going to look like. It was just so fun to all be together.”

REFERENCES “I went to the One Fine Day Wedding Expo with a friend of mine who was getting married a week earlier. We had already locked everything in when I went, but it was still really fun to go. It was there where I got the idea to get heaps of fireball for all our guests!

A WORD OF ADVICE “If your venue is kicking you out at a certain time, start everything EARLIER so the dancefloor can go off for as long as possible! (Adam) “We also decided to bulk up the canapés at the beginning and skip dessert. At most weddings we’ve been to, including our own, we’ve noticed no one really eats much during and after, but everyone is starving when they first arrive! We still had cake but got to take most of it home as everyone was drinking too much at that point.”
