Together for three years when they got married, Lucy and Jim always wanted to host their intimate wedding in the garden at the bride’s family home in Tumbarumba, situated in NSW’s Snowy Valleys. They planned the whole thing for their 33 guests in just four months time and turned to local vendors to make their special day happen, including photographer Elk Avenue, and one of our favourite bridal boutiques Mrs Fray. THE PROPOSAL “It was a cold Tuesday morning in July (Jim’s birthday) Jim was stoking the fire in the morning before work, we were both in our pyjamas, I passed Jim a piece of wood and he passed me back a ring and a wedding proposal – the rest is history!”
THE VENUE “I have always wanted to get married in the garden, at home, in Tumbarumba. It is the most beautiful place in the world.”
THE DRESS “My sister, Mum and I travelled to Mrs Fray in Canberra for the day, four weeks before the wedding, I new I wanted something low-key but really didn’t have a clue! Amy at Mrs Fray was incredibly patient and accommodating. As soon as I put it on I new it was the one.”
THE INSPO “When Dez our florist [Forage Merchant Occasions] asked for my colour palette I had no idea – I wanted to incorporate as much of what was already in the garden and house as possible – Dez did a great day of enhancing what is already, in my mind the most beautiful venue in Australia.”
MEMORABLE MOMENT “The morning leading to the wedding, in my childhood home with my sisters and Mum and Dad. There was something very special about the whole family being together leading to the ceremony. It was a very special time.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “If you are considering having a little/intimate wedding or eloping – DO IT, you won’t regret it!”
WE’RE GLAD WE… “had a short engagement and a little wedding – I am quite impatient.”
STANDOUT VENDOR “All vendors were amazing – Jasmine from Elk Avenue‘s photos were breathtaking, we are still in contact, since my wedding she has done both my sisters weddings.”
