Jason and Henry’s Melbourne wedding was a dream, folks. Together for seven years, these lovers opted for decadence and glamour and we likey. Not only did the pair look so suave for their black-tie affair, but they utilised a heap of our fave vendors, too. Mad About Cakes concocted a delish creation, Off The Hook provided the audio guest book (such a rad idea, guys – look into it!) and the lovely Lilli from I Got You Babe captured all these sweet shots. So, scroll down for good times aplenty…
THE INSPO “We wanted to create something that allowed people to really dress up; we wanted everyone to feel glamourous. So we started with the dresscode being black tie, and worked our way back with florals, stationery, cake and music.”
LITTLE LOL “Henry went into full bridezilla which was to be expected! I was always slow in getting back to the many wedding plan emails, and when I would respond with input I would either be told I was on the wrong version of the plan, or be told that it was really only an inform and that my input wasn’t required. I actually adored it. We laughed a lot!”
MEMORABLE MOMENTS “Arriving to the ceremony and seeing everyone there, taking in the floral set-up which was simply stunning and completed by a colleague from work [Florals by A], which made it so special. Ultimately, it was waiting for Henry to walk down the aisle. He kept me waiting… and waiting. During our vows, he then threw in a surprise I still can’t believe he pulled off. Asking his great friend and bridesmaid, Meg Mac, to perform a cover mash-up of two Cher songs, I Got You Babe and Main Man. It was magical. Also Henry’s father’s speech where he said he came into the day as a father to five boys, but now has six boys. That really got me.”
A TOUCH OF TRADITION “We had a ring warming during our ceremony. My brother Michael started it off, holding our rings and blessing them or warming them, then passing them around to all of our guests to warm in their own way. It was really special to us. We also asked my grandmother to do a reading as part of our ceremony – she’s the only surviving grandparent of us both and it was important for us to acknowledge her and them.”
A WORD OF ADVICE “You have to get a wedding planner. Elizabeth from Weddings by E was just a dream to work with, kept us on track and did far more than I thought would be delivered. Such a great service and certainly saved us from a lot of work and dare I say arguments!”
